Angelic Layer in America!,

This review is from: Angelic Layer - On the Wing and a Player (Vol. 2) (DVD)
When I first read the Angelic Layer manga, I loved it. This is another adorable creation by Clamp, with its lead character, Misaki, reminiscent of Sakura of CCS and Hikaru from MKR, with her own little speech quirks. (Na?) When I saw that the anime was coming out, I was overjoyed. I got the first DVD immediately and just got the second for Christmas. Angelic Layer is an adorable anime about believing in yourself and your angels (fighting dolls that you maneuver with your minds.) In the end it is about your own personal strength. It has another Clamp-like amazing cast of characters, from Misaki to "wiggly" Icchan" to Tamayo who attacks innocent people...^.~ It is a highly recommended anime, and the opening and ending themes are really cute and wonderful. Fans of Cardcaptor Sakura and even something like Pokemon would likely enjoy this anime. I'm getting each DVD as soon as they come out.

Nothing Special,
This review is from: Angelic Layer - On the Wing and a Player (Vol. 2) (DVD)
Angelic Layer - Vol. 2 - On a Wing and a Player contains episodes five through eight in the CLAMP series about a young, innocent girl who falls in love with the game of Angelic Layer. Suzuhara is continuing her "miracle rookie" run of wins in the Angelic Layer tournament. She is assisted by Mr. Icchan, who is the "father" of Angelic Layer, unbeknownst to Suzuhara.
This is pretty mediocre stuff from the great studio. Suzuhara is so naiive, she has no personality. The surrounding characters are equally annoying, especially Suzuhara's loud and obnoxious friend Tamayo. The only reason I keep watching is for the battle dolls, or "Angels," which are cool. The best part of volume two is a voice actor interview with Kevin Corn (Satoko) and Monica Riahl (Tamayo). It is great to hear them rank on Angelic Layer and call the characters "retard" and "loser."

This review is from: Angelic Layer - On the Wing and a Player (Vol. 2) (DVD)
Misaki and her angel, Hikaru, have been winning a lot of battles lately. Will she make it to the national tournament in Kanto? What happens when she has to go up against her friend, Hatoko, and her superfast battle doll? As she seems to learn a lot from each victory what can she learn from defeat? Will self-doubt and her own fears cripple her?The DVD holds four action packed episodes and extras in the form of one of the episodes having actors' commentary, six ADV previews and production artwork. I really enjoyed this as much as the first DVD and would suggest you buy it, either used or new.
