the best in the series,

This review is from: Angelina at the Fair (Hardcover)
This is the first Angelina book I recieved and I believe that it is the best in the series of Angelina books. It has everything a terrific children's book should have. The characters were obviously created with great attention to details and are utterly charming. The fabulous watercolor illustrations were enriching to me as a child when I read Angelina at the Fair due to the pastel color choices. This book also has a perfect balance of intrigue, suspense, and adventure. Every little girl should have the opportunity to read this book.

A good story, but may need some creative editing...,

This book is a good one, especially if your child loves the fair, but beware that the word "hate" is used to describe how she feels about her cousin...not exactly the words I would have chosen to describe the fact that she doesn't want to take him along with her to the fair...but it's easy enough to change the words on the fly for younger listeners.

Angelina learns some valuable lessons,
This review is from: Angelina at the Fair (Hardcover)
In "Angelina at the Fair", Angelina has saved up her money for the fair that's come to town, but is dismayed when her parents ask her to take young cousin Henry along. Angelina displays some undesirable traits here - she is so self-centered and selfish that initially she ignores Henry's needs and takes him on the 'fun' rides that are suited to her age group but scare Henry. It is only when she accidentally loses sight of him and searches desperately for Henry that she begins to miss him and when the pair are reunited, Angelina makes up for her earlier lack of courtesy.
This would be a great book to be read with an older sibling and it is also perfect for read-aloud. The story has some scary elements -going on scary rides, getting separated etc, but a parent can discuss these issues with a child and reassure them. The Angelina series of books are great stories with charming illustrations that will appeal to preschoolers and up.
