This beautifully illustrated tale gives the reader a warm feeling when a retired postal worker, who is alone in the world, is visited by Angelina and invited to appear as Father Christmas at the school Christmas show. The community appreciates his contribution and he is invited to the school show every year. This is a wonderful reminder to us all that the elderly should not only be cherished, but that they still have much to offer to the community.

Young Angelina Ballerina couldn't be more upset when she spots old Mr. Bell sitting all by his lonesome at Christmastime, looking like a sad puppy. Mr. Bell used to be the jovial postman in town, who brought gifts and cards to everyone during the holidays, and played the town Santa Claus for all of the little mouselings. Angelina, full of Christmas spirit, decides that it is up to her to make Mr. Bell's season bright. So, with the help of her young cousin Henry, as well as her father, Angelina bundles up some cookies and cakes to bring to Mr. Bell. But when they arrive, Henry is too concerned about Christmas Eve, and whether or not he will have the chance to see Santa Claus in the flesh, to notice the joy that twinkles in Mr. Bell's eyes at the prospect of visitors and good, old-fashioned holiday cheer. When Henry learns that Santa Claus comes in the middle of the night, and that he won't get to speak to the illustrious Saint Nick, he bursts out in tears. That is, until he learns that there's a live Santa Claus living amongst them all, right here in town, and that his presence will not only bring a smile to young Henry's face, but fill old Mr. Bell with the joy of the holiday, as well.

ANGELINA BALLERINA can be called nothing less than a children's icon. Her presence in numerous glorious children's books, and now in her own TV show make her more and more well-known, while her lovable, kind heart grows bigger by the day. Katharine Holabird works wonders with a pen, as she tells the tales of the young, ballet-loving mouseling who has big dreams, accompanied by an even bigger heart; while the gorgeous, full-color illustrations by Helen Craig bring each and every Angelina "tail" to life. ANGELINA'S CHRISTMAS is a charming addition to the mouseling library, and a wonderful holiday classic for all!

I purchased this Angelina book, Angelina's Christmas, based upon the success the Halloween Angelina book was with my 3 year old grandaughter. It did not disappoint. She and I both enjoyed the pictures and the story. The best feature of this story is the theme of helping others by giving your time. Angelina cared, her mom cared, and an elderly person found new energy and reason for living. A wonderful story for our time.

I think "Angelina's Christmas" is one of the best stories in the series for the Christmas spirit it embodies and promotes. Angelina spies old retired mailman Mr Bell sitting alone by his fire one evening and decides, in the spirit of Christmas, that she wants to do something special for him. Angelina, her dad and young cousin Henry bring along some baked goodies, a tree and decorations and surprise Mr Bell who reciprocates their good turn in his own special way.

This is a delightful Christmas story and is beautifully illustrated by Helen Craig's almost life-like drawings that have an old world charm, capturing a fantasy world inhabited by adorable little mice. A must-read for Angelina fans and highly recommended for preschoolers and up.

Angelina's Christmas by Katherine Haliburt
Everyone at her school stayed late to help decorate for the play. Most houses had lights and were decorated for the holiday, except for one house.
She makes cookies in hopes of giving one away to the old man. Her brother Henry wnats to give his to Santa Claus. Next day her mother and her bring holiday food to his house and the dad and Henry cut a tree for him.
He dresses up as Santa as everyone decorates the tree and tells them a story of when he was not able to drive his US Postal truck to deliver the presents...
Nice surprise for what the town does for the old man, Mr. Bell. Henry participates.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

This is a beautiful story and well illustrated. Brings out the love in the heart of Angelina at Christmas. Was so perfect, because I gave my granddaughter the Angelina doll as a gift as well.

The illustrations are my favorite part of this book. Everything is so detailed and beautiful to look at. Great storyline too. Angelina demonstrates a lot of good character traits too.

I was underwhelmed by the story. It is poorly written and seems very contrived to fit into the Christmas book market. I love the original Angelina and, of course, love the illustrations, but I will not be keeping this in my library.

That being said, if your child is a die-hard Angelina fan, I'm sure he or she will love this book :)
