Alice Greene has written a creative, intriguing, and believable novel about why we may feel pulled in one way or another around our issues in life. We see the forces of good (the Angels) and evil (the Opposers) in their battle to compete for their parts in our earthly purposes. Each chapter begins with the supernatural characters plotting for or against the characters in the novel to support or hinder their lives. Then, the author finds ways to draw the reader deeper into the concerns and hopes of the characters, making them real and believable people. Intrigue and adventure build as the reader is drawn into the complexity that is life for each of the main characters. ANGELS ALL AROUND is a novel full of love and intrige, disappointments and hope. It is also a great reminder that it is important to listen to the still, small voice inside that never lies to us and the consequences when we allow other influences to supercede our hearing. It a great discussion novel that is not overbearing or preachy, and yet it is written in such a way that it gives rise to our inner conflicts about life's purpose, how we make decisions, and how and why people enter (or leave) our lives. It would work well as a book for a secular book club or for friends who are willing to have a deep and truthful discussion around some common issues. It could be used, also, as a book for a small church group discussion about choices and what influences them. I highly recommend this book.

First, a disclaimer. Reverend Alice Greene is the pastor of my church, and one of the most remarkable people I know. So I may not be able to claim total objectivity here. Nonetheless, had I picked up this book at random and started reading it, I would have enjoyed it just as much if I never heard of the author.

The book is based on the fascinating speculative premise that we may be angelic beings sent into the world as humans for a special purpose, and unaware of our angelic nature while in our flesh and blood bodies. The forces of darkness, the "oppressors," are determined to interfere in any way they can to keep us from achieving this purpose. We follow the two main characters, Kenisha and Michael, as they try to unite and achieve their angelic goal while the greater battle between good and evil swirls around them. Within this framework, Reverend Greene explores many issues, including corruption in high places, the negative impact of religious dogma over compassion, and the power of love, both divine and human, to overcome even the most difficult of circumstances.

A wonderful book, highly recommended.

I was blown away by "Angels All around" I started reading and I could not put it down until I finished it. Alice Greene has written an exciting novel. The characters were real and very believable. I loved the setting for the story and the attention to detail in the city of Chicago. There was an almost imperceptible theological perspective woven into the fabric of the story - certainly not preachy. "Angels..." is a love story with intrigue, action, heartbreak, disappointment and success. I saw my own life in many ways. I highly recommend it.

Implications... explorations... exhortations... incriminations... intimidations... humiliations... exultations... trepidations... determination... and salvation are all well strung together in this short work! The author has sucessfully combined a believable mix of spiritual, criminal, and real life characters. This is a great read on several levels. I enjoyed reading it just as much the second time around. I look forward to the sequel.

This is a lovely story about God's presence in our lives. The characters are real and the story moves along. I would reccomend this to anyone who is tired of the same old romance and mystery story. There is a great deal of substance to the plot. Alice Bernette Greene has crafted a fascinating tale.
