I bought this CD because I recently saw Vance Gilbert in concert. He is a phenomenal performer-hysterically funny and extremely talented and versatile. While this CD does not highlight his great sense of humor, it does highlight his incredible voice. I will definitely buy more of his CD's in the future!

The songs covered on this disc fit Vance's voice very nicely. The songs are all classics and Vance puts himself into them without changing the essence of the songs. I especially like "Heaven Help Us All" and "A Change is Gonna Come". This guy's got soul. Like the reviewers before me, I recommend seeing him live - it's a great experience!

We still talk about the great night we spent in Ridgefield Ct. listening to Vance Gilbert. None of us knew him prior to catching him there. It was so terrific! Beyond all expectations. See him in person if you can.

I saw Vance Gilbert in concert about 3 years ago in a little coffee house in upstate New York. I was truly amazed by his singing voice. He has a wonderful sense of humor and combined with his music, it makes for a great evening of fun. Some of his songs are so haunting...esp. Unfamilar Moon.
If you ever get a chance to see him in person, do so. But his music is well worth buying. |
