Boring,

This review is from: Angels of Death: Inside the Biker Gangs' Crime Empire (Paperback)
There are much better books out there on the Hell's Angels. The author does way too much jumping around back and forth and that makes this book very hard to follow. There is good info in this book concerning what goes on worldwide, but unfortunately, the author never stays on topic long enough to make the story and enjoyable read.

Regurgitated police talking points,
By Harley Rider (Ellijay, GA.) - See all my reviews

This is another in a line of books written by either snitches, undercover cops looking for a big payday, or "investigative reporters" who think an investigation is copying police reports. If you are really interested in what the Outlaw Motorcycle world is like, and want to find out how the ATF and cops really work, buy "OutBad" and "The Aging Rebel, Dispatches from the Motorcycle Outlaw Frontier" by Donald Charles Davis. Unlike all these "biker" expert books you will find out what it is like to wear an Outlaw club patch and how much the cops and ATF really obey the law.

confusing!,

I have read many books on this topic, and this one was very confusing. The author jumped from topic to topic and I never felt that each story finished. I recommend Under and Alone or 3 Can Keep a Secret if 2 are Dead.

A research book,

Under and Alone is a great book, with compelling details available only to a first-person narration. Angels of Death is different. It's a book compiled from research. Because of that, it lacks the fire of a first-person story, but it also offers a broader range and greater depth. The author discusses cases and clubs across the United States and even in Mexico, Canada, Europe and Australia. He definitely made me appreciate the scope of Hells Angels' operation. He discusses rival motorcycle gangs, which I felt had been lacking in other books I've read, like Under and Alone. This book definitely wins points for an exhaustive look at outlaw motorcycle gangs.
I deducted one star, however, because the authors referenced the famous Sturgis Bike Rally, but placed it in Colorado. (Page 187 of the hardcover edition). I get a little nervous when a research book gets a detail like that wrong. (Just go to the official website to find where it's held. Also, there is no such place as Sturgis, CO).

It's a good book. The author writes of his time as a spy in the Hells Angels. It's a riveting account of violence; crime; and mayhem from the inside. All true, and hard to put down.

Avery interesting insight into the goings on of the hell angels. It made me change my mind about the image of them as has been portrayed in the movies.

Another HAMC book review by G. Nance,
By
This review is from: Angels of Death: Inside the Biker Gangs' Crime Empire (Paperback)
Well I read this book just as I've read every other HAMC book on the market and this book was (yawn) ho hum to say the least. I supose these days every undercover officer who works a Hells angels case feels compelled to ca$h in on writing a juicy "tell-all" book to supplement their meager cop salaries. Like the undercover operation itself - code named "black biscuit" (nicknamed after a ...hockey puck??)- failed to win any significant convictions/jail time for any Hells Angels the book basically fails too. The reader learns nothing new/exciting about the Hells Angels in this dull, bland and quite boring (yawn) book. Just an obvious attempt for a cop to try and make a few bucks writing a Hells Angels book as I mentioned above. What I did find interesting - or amusing rather - was the list at the end of the book giving a rundown of all the convictions or at least no contest pleas the Arizona authorities were able to obtain for their operation "black biscuit" (aagain as in HOCKEY PUCK??!!) efforts. Basically much adu about nothing. They obviously wasted a lot of their time, money, resources etc. with meager/minimal results just as the book achieves meager/minimal results. Thanks for reading my review.
