3.0 out of 5 stars Die Hard with a motorcycle, September 9, 2009
This review is from: Angels Die Hard [VHS] (VHS Tape)
ANGELS DIE HARD is classic summertime drive-in movie fare, released as a "pick up" by Roger Corman's recently incorporated NEW WORLD PICTURES. This was New World's first issue-- one seen in select markets only. For modern audiences, the best known cast member is Dan 'Grizzly Adams' Haggerty.

Like most biker pics of that era, "Angels" includes brawls, baccanalias and for contrast, a funeral. What distinguishes this episodic story is that the usually "villainous" gang members are here the heroes who rescue some trapped miners.

As of 9/09, "Angels Die Hard" was not available on DVD.

Related item:
Roger Corman defined the '60s biker genre by directing THE WILD ANGELS (1966). Cast includes Peter Fonda, Nancy Sinatra, Bruce Dern, Diane Ladd, Michael J. Pollard and several actual Hell's Angels. (VHS) (DVD)

Parenthetical number preceding title is a 1 to 10 viewer poll rating found at a film resource website.

(5.8) Angels Die Hard (1970) - Tom Baker/William Smith/Carl Steppling/Frank Leo/R.G. Armstrong/Alan De Witt/Dan Haggerty/Gary Littlejohn/Beach Dickerson/William Bonner/Mike Angel

4.0 out of 5 stars The Dastardly Misdeeds of a 70's Biker Gang, July 28, 2008
This review is from: Angels Die Hard [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This 70's Drive-In exploitation film attempts to cash in on the lucrative indie market created by 1969's "Easy Rider." New World video released a few cool biker movies. Also check out "The Peace Killers" At this point in the 70's the Hells Angels were infamous. Angels Die Hard tries to ride on their bad rep! William Smith of "rich man poor man" TV fame stars as the lead biker. Here as in "Easy Rider" and "The Wild Ones" hell raising bikers clash with local towns folk. You'll have some authentic looking bikers but even better looking Harley's and some pretty decent stunts. Check for a cameo from Dan Haggerty. -sideshowvideo
