5.0 out of 5 stars Great True Stories, January 25, 2002
By A Customer
This book is a great collection of true stories from all over the U.S. They are able to tell the real stories of medics instead of the Rescue 911 variety. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in Emergency Medicine. I am glad that someone wrote a book letting everyone know that not all the patients you encounter will survive despite your best efforts..

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is more true to life than most, February 24, 1999
Having read most of the small selection of books relating to EMS.I found this book to be more true to life. In my 16 years experience the last 10 as a Paramedic. I found that I could relate to almost all the stories presented in one way or another. One thing about EMS, We like to tell our stories and listen to others tell there's.These folks did a good job at that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Alot of work went into this one!, March 4, 1999
By A Customer
Theisen did her homework--interviewing hundreds of "angels". I have a greater respect for paramedics and Emt's now. I'm glad there are people like them in this world!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the best book on EMT and Paramedic stories!, August 23, 1998

I have been trying to look for books similar to ones like this, and I really wish there were more of them. I am not a very good reader, but this book made it very enjoyable.

4.0 out of 5 stars A view of what you don't see in an emergency, July 17, 1998
By A Customer
This book has a collection of stories from the men and women who are in the front lines of a medical emergency. These professionals are charged with our care until we are able to reach a hospital. They may be "Angels of Emergency", but they are also human like the rest of us. This book iterates some of their stories from joys to tears. Dealing with death, near death, and the once in awhile delivery of new life experiences as a full time job can take a tremendous toll on our emergency medical service personnel. This book helps the rest of us appreciate what a difference they make, understand what it takes to be one of them, and overall appreciate the precious gift of life. I'd recommend this book to everyone: those that are interested in joining EMS; and those that may one day need an ambulance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Read over and over again, October 30, 2006
I purchased this book years ago. I am not a big reader, but I was unable to put this book down. I had to see what the next story was going to be and how it turned out. I have re-read this book several times. The stories are so amazing. Some funny and some sad. I have caught myself reading one story over and over again, each time hoping that there would be some Hollywood happy ending. But each time the kid ends up dying.

I have looked for another book by these authors or anyone else that comes close to touching this book and so far I have been unable to find one. Many other books are from a single perspective. I like how this one includes war stories from a lot of people. It adds a lot to the book.
