4.0 out of 5 stars Reassuring
One sentence in the introduction sums it up: "'Angels, Miracles and Messages' celebrates God's care and concern for us and the surprising ways He directs our lives." I received this book from a friend a few years ago, then read it recently after I'd done Scriptural research on just who and what angels are. The short stories within are rather captivating -- and reassuring...

3.0 out of 5 stars Let God Lead & Show the Way.
This volume includes life-changing anecdotes by luminaries Arthur Godfrey, Edward Cushing, Marily Webber, Norman Vincent Peale, Sue Kidd, John Gleason gna 49 others. "Angel of Opportunity" about a missed opportunity to help someone in need because of a bus schedule. I received this book from a friend a few years ago, then read it recently after I'd done Scriptural research on just who and what angels are. The short stories within are rather captivating -- and reassuring as to God's grace and awesome power. Even if some might seem far-fetched to the skeptic, the underlying message is that God takes very good care of us.

3.0 out of 5 stars Let God Lead & Show the Way., June 23, 2006
This review is from: Angels, Miracles, and Messages (Hardcover)
This volume includes life-changing anecdotes by luminaries Arthur Godfrey, Edward Cushing, Marily Webber, Norman Vincent Peale, Sue Kidd, John Gleason gna 49 others. "Angel of Opportunity" about a missed opportunity to help someone in need because of a bus schedule. I've had to leave three movies before the endings to get my bus; like Fay Angus, I was too tired to wait an hour for the next one.

In "The right Solo." a soprano who was auditioning for the one spot left in a choir sang "I Walked Today Where Jesus Walked," and was welcomed to the choir by the writer of that hymn. When I became brave enough to sing my first solo, I chose "It Is NO Secret What God Can Do" at a school talent show. I'd never been an exhibitionist, always a shy loner, a little girl growing up with no mother. From there, I went to another school, sang "Va Ya Con Dios" (May God Go With You) dressed as a cowgirl complete with cowboy hat and my dad's guitar, and was a big hit with the younger kids. Then radio, t.v. and teen show at Tennessee Theatre -- a short, but busy, singing career until I grew up and went off to college and my fate. My mother may not have been there to guide me, but God certainly was.

On a recent bus trip to the store, my timing was off as I caught the first of that day on my route. The nasty driver insisted on seeing my ID. Even after I produced a proper KAT card, she refused to move the bus. So I asked the people already on the bus, "Did you have to show ID?" No one did. I had been singled out for public humiliation. It was a dangerous, uncomfortable ride to town where I got off to wait for the next bus. My timing was off that day, but God's timing was perfect. It gave me the courage to get up at t he KTA meeting which was televised for those who have cable, and tell of this bad experience.

I was told sometime ago that God works at his own pace, not when we want him to. Sometimes, it takes months to get what we need, as apparently the time was not right for God. We must endure hardships and illnesses to appreciate just being alive. God works in mysterious ways. He allows a relationship to blossom and grow over a period of years, and suddenly something not of your doing occurs to end it. It's painful, very hard to understand why it can't continue, but it had served its purpose and God (or the angel assigned to observe you) had decided that something better is in the stars for you. Sure, it hurt to give up someone who had aided your progress, but now it's time to let him work his magic on someone else with his impressive, humble demeanor. I don't think I will forgive God this time. But will he forgive me? That's the important issue.
