Book Description

8 and up4 and upAngel O'Leary
When Angel's mother begins acting strangely after her vacation, Angel knows it has something to do with the mysterious letters from Washington, D.C. Soon Angel convinces herself that her mother must be in danger for not paying her taxes! Angel swings into action, scheming to earn bail money and creating escape plans. But when it turns out the letters are actually from Rudy, the charming man Mrs. O'Leary met on her vacation, Angel isn't as relieved as she should be. Besides being a threat to their family, he is after all, a professional clown . . . Worrywart Angel and her little brother, Rags, will delight old fans and new readers alike as they face an unusual dilemma with typically hilarious results.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Delton's heroine Angel is off on her mental trampoline again, jumping to the wrong conclusions. The sudden changes in her mother are misconstrued as crimes, and quick-witted Angel is ready at the rescue. But her mother's not in trouble, she's just met a man. Or is this even a worse crime? After all, when Rudy comes to visit, he seems to stay forever, practically moving in. Then he brings all his belongings to their town and gets a job as a TV clown. What could be more embarrassing? Angel's acceptance of this marvelous man is slow enough, and the page-turning, sprightly humor of characters they can touch will help readers overlook the path's being rather straight and smooth.

4.0 out of 5 stars Angel's Mother's Boyfriend, December 11, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Angel's Mother's Boyfriend (Angel O'Leary) (Paperback)
This story written by Judy Delton is a really interesting book. The story is about Mrs.O'leary,Angel's mom, having a boyfriend who lives in Washington. His name is Rudy and he always called Angel's mom.Angel thought that her mom wasn't paying her taxes because some always called her from Washington.Mrs.O'leary tells Angel about her boyfriend and she is not happy about it.Angel's best friends are Edna and Rags.Rudy was going to stay at their house for a while and Angel hated it more because he had to stay in her room. Finally Rudy announced the big news about him and Mrs.O'leary to the family and this time Angel doesn't hate it as much.
