Book Description

World Mythology Series April 1991
A collection of traditional Jewish legends from the earliest times, stories of the rabbis, and tales from the communities of medieval Europe.

Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 2-6-- A handsome, well-made book. Written in a conversational tone with sufficient dialogue for children to identify with the characters, it's a smoothly written collection of traditional and folk literature from the Jewish heritage, peopled by fools and wise men, honest men and tricksters, princesses and kings, rabbis and sages. While many favorites are included, there are also lesser-known selections. The stories are divided into 13 groups; each group is introduced by an explanation about the source and the meaning behind the tales. Very little, if any, adaptation is needed for storytelling use. The book is magnificently illustrated in both full color and black and white. No other collection on this topic is as lively or as attractive. --Marcia Posner, Federation of New York and the Jewish Book Council, New York City

This review is from: Angels, Prophets, Rabbis & Kings from the Stories of the Jewish People (World Mythology Series) (Library Binding)
stories are well told and beautifully illustrated. My son ( 8 years old) and I have read a dozen books of jewish folklore; this one is the best.
