beautiful art, well-researched book,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Angels Tarot (Paperback)
I found the art spiritually uplifting. It is refreshing to see a work about angels that is not sentimental but reflects angels the way they actually are in angel lore--mysterious and sometimes surreal. The book gave me a deeper appreciation for the history of our thoughts about angels, and made the Tarot itself easy to understand and use. I thought it was well-written and packs in a lot of information. I've given readings to friends with it and it's been great.

Well researched and beautifully illustrated, this deck and book are a welcome relief from the sentimentality that is usually associated with this subject.

I love Bob Place's work. I really do. I own all of his published decks, and a small print of his is hanging on my wall, so that's not the problem. The problem arises when you try to read this tarot. If you bought it for a reading deck, you may find that the imagery on these cards is a little thin to spark your intuitive process. If, however, you read from a formulary or a pre-memorized or even a numerolgoical method, this deck may be fine for you. Tarot enthusiasts will definitely want to acquire it for their collections - but readers may want to find a new age store that carries the deck so they can take a preview of the art.

Hard to read, but the book was well written,

Beautiful Set,
This review is from: The Angels Tarot (Paperback)
This is an excellent value. You get a lovely set of cards, with a "real" book (unlike the small paper inserts in other decks), and both slide nicely into the solid cardboard holder. The artwork is simple and sweet. The minor arcana have adorable angel faces. I love how the artist has turned angels into diamonds, spades, hearts, and clubs. The book describes each card's meaning in full detail. There are several ideas given for various layouts, or the individual can pull one card for general guidance.

Angelic Messengers,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Angels Tarot (Paperback)
In this deck, angels are not pictured as hazy, ethereal, soft-focus creatures who are always beaming pleasant thoughts at us, but rather as exciting, vivid and strange messengers from the psyche

Very odd looking cards...,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Angels Tarot (Paperback)
Was rather disappointed when I opened the deck as the cards (artwork) is very different as some of the major arcana cards are downright odd and greepy to look at let alone to "read". The minor arcana's artwork look like regular suits from regular playing cards. The book is long winded and takes forever to get to the point eg. what the card means without having to read through so much to get to the real point of the card. For an angel lover - the art work is plain odd For a tarot lover - hard to "read" and the book descriptions ramble forever without really getting down to business

Very Unangelic Artwork,
By A Customer

I agree with the person who also gave this a 1-star rating. I never even got as far as checking out the book, as I too - appreciating the great beauty of angel depictions in art - was so turned off by the cartoonish and strange art, that I put everthing back in the box and chose a different deck.
