From Publishers Weekly

Don and Cathy Angel are an enviable New York couple?he's a successful lawyer, she's a rising interior designer?until a deadly car accident on Christmas Eve turns them into a couple of angels. In the crowded, misty corridors of the afterlife, ruled over by a God who's depicted as a celestial CEO, they take a meeting with the angel Gabriel. Acerbic and businesslike, with a taste for Versace suits and stretch limos, Garbriel briefs the couple on procedure: to earn their wings, they must perform six Christmas miracles by midnight. Equipped with paranormal powers, Don and Cathy return to Earth. In Boston, they help unite a hard-drinking man with his long-suffering wife and aid an elegant bag lady; in Florida, they offer comfort to a terminally ill nun, who is afraid to die, and to a suicidal young angel expert who needs a reason to live. Returning to New York, the angels face their ultimate test. Cramming a plethora of miseries into her slender tale, Pozzessere, who writes contemporary romances under that name and historical romances under the pseudonyms Heather Graham and Shannon Drake, veers unevenly between the sad circumstances of characters at various nadirs and the forced comic mayhem of the yuppie couple trying to get an afterlife. While some heartwarming moments seep into the hackneyed scenes, this novel is, for the most part, an ill-conceived exploitation of the angel craze that pulls sentimental strings as shamelessly as it does spiritual ones.

From Library Journal

Accidentally killed on Christmas Eve, Cathy and Don Angel are given a chance to achieve angelhood by performing three miracles each before Christmas Day. Their success is predictable, although the end result may be a surprise. Pozzessere (Slow Burn, Mira, 1994) gives a unique portrayal of the heavenly realm featuring a yuppie angel Gabriel. The realistic, punchy dialog is a plus for this short contemporary, with occasional flashes of humor, healthy doses of sentimentality, and tidy solutions to a series of standard holiday crises (e.g., a homeless woman, a family of unwanted children, a drunken father, a suicidal, blind teacher). Despite this slim hardcover's price, fans will most likely request it. Pozzessere also writes historicals as Heather Graham and Shannon Drake. She lives in Miami, Florida.

More About the Author

New York Times and USA Today best selling author, Heather Graham was born somewhere in Europe and kidnapped by gypsies when she was a small child. She went on to join the Romanian circus as a trapeze artist and lion tamer. When the circus came to South Florida, she stayed, discovering that she preferred to be a shark and gator trainer.

Not really.

Heather is the child of Scottish and Irish immigrants who met and married in Chicago, and moved to South Florida, where she has spent her life. (She has, at least, been to the Russian circus in Moscow, where she wished she was one of the incredibly talented and coordinated trapeze artists.) She majored in theater arts at the University of South Florida. After a stint of several years in dinner theater, back-up vocals, and bartending, she stayed home after the birth of her third child and began to write. Her first book was with Dell, and since then, she has written over one hundred and fifty novels and novellas including category, suspense, historical romance, vampire fiction, time travel, occult, horror, and Christmas family fare.

She is pleased to have been published in approximately twenty-five languages, and has had over seventy-five million books in print. She has been honored with awards from Walden Books, B. Dalton, Georgia Romance Writers, Affaire de Coeur, Romantic Times, the Lifetime Achievement Award from RWA and more. Heather has also become the proud recipient of the Silver Bullet from Thriller Writers. Heather has had books selected for the Doubleday Book Club and the Literary Guild, and has been quoted, interviewed, or featured in such publications as The Nation, Redbook, Mystery Book Club, People and USA Today and appeared on many newscasts including Today, Entertainment Tonight and local television.

Heather loves travel and anything that has to do with the water, and is a certified scuba diver. She also loves ballroom dancing. Each year she hosts the Vampire Ball and Dinner theater at the RT convention raising money for the Pediatric Aids Society and in 2006 she hosted the first Writers for New Orleans Workshop to benefit the stricken Gulf region. She is also the founder of "The Slush Pile Players", presenting something that's almost like entertainment for various conferences and benefits. Married since high school graduation and the mother of five, her greatest love in life remains her family, but she also believes her career has been an incredible gift, and she is grateful every day to be doing something that she loves so very much for a living.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Tale of Christmas Miracles, November 29, 2001

This review is from: An Angel's Touch (Paperback)
An Angel's Touch is touching tale of hope and Christmas miracles. Don and Cathy Angel are in devastating and fatal car crash on Christmas Eve. Meeting Archangel Gabriel, they are told that they must perform three miracles by midnight of this Christmas Eve in order to earn their wings. Don is skeptical and Cathy believes, as they are given their "list" of who they must help and what they can and cannot do back again on earth. Gabriel also explains to them about people having faith against all odds, especially during this solemn time of the year.
"Little Miracles. Christmas gifts. Making something work out for people who just keep trying and believing against all odds. That is a miracle, you see. When all facts and figures suggest that something just can't happen - but it does. When faith makes something happen."

The people Don and Cathy encounter and help are struggling with issues and situations that are not uncommon or difficult in our lives today. Pozzessere combines touches of humor along with sentimentality as her "angels" struggle to accomplish their mission before midnight.

"Life - on Earth - only lasts so long for any man, woman, and child. It's a gift, like any other. And quite fleeting at the very best, against the spectrum of time. But there is a quality to every man's life. Life is a gift to be used to the fullest, no matter how the days are measured. Perhaps life itself is the greatest gift, but sometime it takes a miracle to make people see that."

This book is easy to read and the touches of humor are quite enjoyable in the realm of performing Christmas miracles. The ending will surprise you as well as bring tears to your eyes. Christmas is a time of miracles, but it is also a time of love, as Pozzessere so eloquently shows us. This would be a great book for the entire family to read during the holiday season!

I really liked this one. The characters were very human and I felt that I knew them. They were honest and real and sweet. It was a quick read and it makes you cry and feel good about life and love at the same time.
