"Over the years, animal rescue and adoption have transformed my life over and over and over," says author Devon O'Day. In My Angels Wear Fur, her first collection of stories that chronicle the many animals she has rescued, Devon O'Day tells readers about:
Tennessee Tess: A stray dog delivered to her front door by a man working on a construction crew in the neighborhood and who ended up living the glamorous life in Hollywood with O'Day's sister, actress Faith Ford.
The Boxer of Mercy: A brindle boxer who delivers dogs in need to O'Day's front door. As soon as he knows the other dog is in good hands, the boxer disappears.
More than 30 well-written stories will warm your heart and make you understand what O'Day means when she says, "There is a God-like quality in animals. They love without judgment. They are loyal and caring and they see through each of us...to the hidden souls of our real beings."
A Louisianan by birth, Tennessean by choice, and a New Yorker along the way, Devon O'Day has enjoyed life in the fast lane with country road roots.
While her sister, Emmy nominated actress Faith Ford, moved to New York City right out of high school, Devon enrolled at the University of Louisiana - Monroe where she graduated and later joined Faith in The Big Apple, where she did post-graduate work in the writer's program at New York University, and became a model with the prestigious Ford Modeling Agency. While in NYC, Devon also studied acting at the Weist-Barron School, The Actor's Studio, and the Loft, and chose voice-over acting as her specialty.
Devon's radio career began some twenty years ago at KRRV-FM in Alexandria, LA, then to KPAL-FM in Pineville, LA, KNOE-FM in Monroe, LA, and almost eighteen years at WSIX in Nashville, TN as part of the number one morning show in the country, "GERRY HOUSE, AND THE HOUSE FOUNDATION". Devon now hosts her own Country Spirit Radio Show heard on WSIX and nationally on XMRadio.
Her songwriting credits include Hank Williams, Jr, Ray Stevens, Neal McCoy, Trace Adkins, and a number one by George Strait called, "The Big One". Devon's songwriting credits by Lee Ann Womack, Pam Tillis, Marty Raybon, The Freemans, and Soul Real are products of her co-writes with Dove award winning songwriter, Kim McLean.
As an inspirational and motivational speaker, Devon O'Day has hosted/participated on national radio shows Country Hitmakers, The Songmakers, Saturday Night House Party, America's Number Ones, and countless radio specials for recording artists like Garth Brooks, The Dixie Chicks, Kenny Chesney, The Isaacs, Trace Adkins, Martina McBride, Keith Urban and more. She travels the country speaking to groups and churches including keynotes at A.I.G., DuPont, The Southeast Women's Conference, and The Come to the Fire Conference in Olathe, KS. Her book, "My Angels Wear Fur" released in 2003 is in its sixth printing for Thomas Nelson Publishers. In 2007, Kim McLean and Devon O'Day released a joint book/CD called Goodbye My Friend: Celebrating the Memory of a Pet through Thomas Nelson. Their newest foray of books and music is a salute to their southern roots: My Southern Food, a cookbook with Sweet Tea: A Southern Soundtrack out November 2010.
Her voice has been heard on all the major TV Networks, hosting specials for BRAVO, Lifetime, and PBS, and on commercials for KFC, Wellstar Hospitals, Hilton Hotels, Abingdon Press, and has just been contracted by the United Methodist's Upper Room to begin recording their library's books for audio.

I received this book for my 40th birthday. Like Devon, I am a dog lover. The stories she tells are of an animal-lover par excellence! I started reading the stories, with one of my three dogs in my lap, and begin sniffling, then sobbing. I wanted to go out and save every anmial! The spiritual ties are real; I, too, have experienced God's unconditional love from my furry angels. Thank you, Devon! I look forward to volume 2.

God put animals on this earth for us to love, cherish, and to keep safe. What a wonderful collection of stories!!! You'll laugh over one story, then cry over the next!!! I'm not a cat-lover; but this book makes me want to learn more about this creature!!!! Devon writes about her "angels"; but, it seems to me Devon herself is an angel who has shared her heart as well as her stories. I only hope more stories will follow!!! Way to go, Devon!!!!!
