5.0 out of 5 stars Christmas romance and more
I love Christmas stories, especially romances and mysteries set in the Christmas season. Debbie MaComber's angels are imaginative and fun, the stories a wonderful mix of serious and silly, and the combination is magical. Worth both a reading and a re-reading next year!

3.0 out of 5 stars Surely these are not new angels
If nothing else the angels' names of Shirley, Goodness and Mercy let you know these will be stories interesting to read. They are a special Christmas treat. Debbie Macomber says sometimes we don't know we have angels among us, reading these two stories will give you a comforting smile concerning that theme. They are sweet Christmas stories.

3.0 out of 5 stars Surely these are not new angels, November 20, 2009
If nothing else the angels' names of Shirley, Goodness and Mercy let you know these will be stories interesting to read. They are a special Christmas treat. Debbie Macomber says sometimes we don't know we have angels among us, reading these two stories will give you a comforting smile concerning that theme. They are sweet Christmas stories.

There is a however...except on the Amazon site where they list the 2 story titles with `Angels at Christmas', which they do not do on the book cover there is no hint they are reissued stories. There is also the quote on the cover that these two stories are destined to become Christmas classics ... well they are 6 and 2 years old already, the only place you see that are on the small copyright dates inside. Sorry I really resent having to investigate into books by authors I like, to see if they are repackaging previous works under a new title.

I loved these stories the first time I read them, but to pick up a book that does not say on the cover, the back or in the introduction that these are 2 previous stories repackaged and labeled `Angels at Christmas' is really unacceptable. Even in Macomber's introduction she gives no inkling that these are not new stories. It hardly seems fair to a reader who is ready to curl up with an expected new story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet story. I love Shirley Goodness and Mercy., November 9, 2009

I enjoyed this story although just like all of Debbies Angel books, they are too short. I wish she would write some more on the adventures of Shirley Goodness and Mercy.

2.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly Lame for Macomber, November 8, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I love Debbie Macomber's books....and I was really unhappily surprised at how bad both of the short stories in this book were. I seriously spent time wondering if a high school student had 'ghost written' these for her.

The plots are amazingly bad and you anyone can figure out what will happen after one paragraph. Combine that with angles that are supposed to come down to help people, but are not supposed to actually do anything or they might get in trouble, and you have a serious eye-roller. Not to mention that none of the characters had anything approaching issues I would call seriously in need of several angles ot fix. (What about all the very ill children, homeless, persecuted, etc.? instead of people nearly 30 who had not yet found love, an elderly man whose children could have helped settle his wife after his passing, or a boy who needs a dog?)

Obviously, the author did not want to spend much more than 20 minutes cranking out yet another book to line her bank account, while forgetting to give the reader any value in entertainment. The characters that usually have a lot of depth in her books are horrific.

I am happy that I bought this on the kindle so I can just delete it- can't subject my friends to this one!
