The introduction provides a brief history of Anger Management for Youth, key concepts about anger and anger management, and description of the model. It also covers specific leader competencies for both the group counseling and skills training approaches that are integrated in Anger Management for Youth. The overall program goals, objectives, and content of the modules are described and diagrammed.

About the Author

Leona Eggert is professor emeritus of psychosocial and community health at the University of Washington School of Nursing in Seattle and president of Reconnecting Youth Inc. in Redmond, Washington. She holds a doctorate in speech communication with a focus on interpersonal and small group communication, a masters degree in family and child psychosocial nursing and cultural anthropology, and a bachelors degree in nursing. For more than 40 years, Dr. Eggert worked with adolescents, their parents, teachers, schools, community mental health centers, churches, and recreational camping programs to promote mental health and prevent suicidal behaviors in adolescents, and she continues to consult in these areas. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

This is a teacher / student program and work book that should be used by junior and senior high schools (alternative schools) as a means to develop peer groups for at risk youths. Excellent ideas which are laid out in modular format for ease of use by the instructor.

Do not buy this book if you are a parent looking for personal help for your child. This book is intended for institutional settings. I bought the book to help me learn about my violent 12 year old boy, but will give the book to my friend who runs an alternative high school program.

This manual incorporates all the necessities for an effective anger management program within a school setting, or for training purposes in any setting! Based on theory and studied for efficacy, this program will help instructors and participants alike identify and manage their anger responses.
