Good, but not as good as their debut,
By Diddy Kong (Newport Beach, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: From Anger & Rage (Audio CD)
I'll start off by saying that their debut album "Rebuild" edges this one out by a slight margin. However, this CD shows more maturity and production then "Rebuild". It's definitely for those who want a band that plays melodic heartfelt hardcore with valuable lyrics and some breakdowns then pick up this CD. On this CD, unlike on "Rebuild" they change their tempos more often. For example, certain songs will start off slow and then pick up. This isn't a bad thing though as it shows more maturity which I mentioned earlier. Verse will be one of the rising hardcore bands to pave the way for the rest of the scene. Oh and if you get a chance to see them live do it, they're awesome...

A solid sophmore release from Providence's Hardcore Kings,

This review is from: From Anger & Rage (Audio CD)
This being Verse's second record, you'd expect some kind of progression in their music. And progress you shall get. From Anger and Rage is 11 solid hardcore songs with excellent sing-alongs and moshparts, along with incredibly articulate lyrical content.
Through the rough period of the past year or so, dealing with a few line up changes and various other problems, these guys have matured into one of the best hardcore bands in America. Tracks such as "Consume" and the title track deliver some of the best formulated hardcore since Modern Life Is war released "Witness." The only problem with this record is the musical similarity to the first 2 Bane records. Although the nostalgia is for the most part great, sometimes they break the barrier of remniscient and get into outright ripping Bane off. This is particularly evident in "Hard To Breathe," which has almost the exact same beginning and feel as Bane's classic "Both Guns Blazing," thus accounting for its loss of one star. If you like hardcore, you'll like this record. If you care about hardcore, you need this record.
