5.0 out of 5 stars great album!
I got this cd the day it came out..i love the unseen and have all their albums...its a great album..and i think the best tracks are NO MASTER RACE, LIVE IN FEAR, WHERE HAVE YOU GONE, and NO EVACUATION. 2.0 out of 5 stars By any other name...
... this would be a good CD. But this is the Unseen. The two CDs before this were really good, their two new CDs today are awesome, even though they've evolved into a new band, and Explode, while a transitional CD, was pretty good. This however... I'm sorry, after two bullseyes they missed the dartboard completely.

"Live in Fear" kicks the album off...

This album is definitely awesome, but its quite different than the other's. 4.0 out of 5 stars Not quite what I expected it to be..., July 10, 2001

The Unseen are one of my favorite bands of all time, and one of the best street punk bands. But on this release, they abandon the street punk and just play straight up hardcore. It's great, but I like the Oi influenced punk rock. Some of the best cuts on here are "Live In Fear", "Something To Say", and "No Master Race". If you're intrested on buying an Unseen cd, go with "Lower Class Crucifixtion" first, but if you liked this cd, go with "So This Is Freedom?". Overall, it's a good cd, and you should add it to your collection today.

5.0 out of 5 stars finally, January 5, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Anger & the Truth (Audio CD)
Finally a real punk band has surfaced. I would highly reccommend this CD to any fan of the Exploited or the Casualties. If you are a pop punk kid or own any Drive-Thru records don't even bother listening. The Unseen may have slowed down a tiny bit on this record, but it still blows away any CD by New Found Glory, or Jimmy Eat World.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite Unseen album, January 14, 2002
By
This review is from: Anger & the Truth (Audio CD)
I've been a fan of the Unseen for a while, and I think this one definitly is a step above the others. As other reviewers have already touched on, it's not quite the same style as their previous albums (although not a TOTAL departure), so if you weren't thrilled with their old stuff, this may still have some appeal. I think the best tracks are the ones written/sung by Paul Russo, like Fight for a Better Life, What Happened and The Anger and the Truth. Every band he's been associated with--The Pinkerton Thugs, The Unseen and the Vigilantes (one of my favorite bands ever) all absolutely rock. This is an awesome album, I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great album, awesome band, December 16, 2001

The Unseen, to me at least, are one the best streetpunk bands to come out in the past decade. They're not easy to catagorize, but either way they churn out nonstop, fast paced, politically aware punk rock. The Anger & the Truth (which has been called the best punk release of '01 a number of times) does take a step away from the Oi! influence seen in the earlier albums, like the amazing "Lower Class Crucifiction", but it doesn't lose any of the energy and power you'd expect from the Unseen. I'll resort to using the term catchy for their melodies, because the truth is you won't be able to refrain from singing along with Paul (who, to clear things up, is the lead singer and guitarist, and ALIVE ;) at the top of your lungs. This is especially so on powerful anthems like "No Master Race" and "Live In Fear". Overall, if you're into political and pogo punk or hardcore with an actual message, or bands like the Casualties, Anti-Flag, A Global Threat(whom Mark Unseen drummed for), or even GBH and the Exploited, this album is an absolute must. If you need more coercion head on over to their site and download a few MP3s.
Personal song pick from this release - "Something To Say"
Also check out their past albums, and Paul Unseen's other bands the Pinkerton Thugs and the Vigilantes and don't listen to bs and rumors, and support your scene!

Ok first off to all you punx that dont support bands cause they got better you need to realize that when you get to play music all the time you get better. Also if you think the songs are "softer" than their old stuff once again you and i have not listened to the same cd. But anyways this cd is an awesome representation of the first cd Mark Unseen sings on and songs like "Give Into Hate" really get me really pumped up. So if you like the Unseen buy The Anger and The Truth and make up your own mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD., November 26, 2005
This review is from: Anger & the Truth (Audio CD)
Don't listen to the haters. This is an EXCELLENT CD. Probably one of the best punk records of the new millenium so far. Highlights here:

"Live in Fear"
"Something To Say"
"Fight For A Better Life"
"What Happened?"

This doesn't sound that commercial to ME. I listen to some 'commercial' stuff, and this blows it all away. I seriously doubt chronic MTV watchers would enjoy this in the least. Punks probably just hate this 'cause some of the songs actually have melody.

Anyway, go get this album if you're a fan of punk rock or just music in general. I'm sure you'd enjoy it.

... this would be a good CD. But this is the Unseen. The two CDs before this were really good, their two new CDs today are awesome, even though they've evolved into a new band, and Explode, while a transitional CD, was pretty good. This however... I'm sorry, after two bullseyes they missed the dartboard completely.

"Live in Fear" kicks the album off spectacularly and you think you're going to get the same Unseen as you did before. Mark's vocals are commanding and the song just pulls you in. The energy is amazing, the backup vocals are on key, and it's still raw and powerful. After the first track however, there's really nothing to offer at all. "Give into Hate" and "No Master Race" are good songs, but everything else is mediocrity and noise. Not saying raw punk isn't cool and all, but there's no melody here, nothing catchy, nothing vocally or instrumentally. Nothing to remember this CD by. Now remember, there's nothing that you listen to and say "Wow, that was bad" but there's nothing that you listen to and say "Wow, that was good," less the first track. (That's why it's typically the only song from this CD that they play live)

Overall, I wouldn't say not to get this CD, but you'd seriously have to be a diehard Unseen fan (like me) and own all their other CDs before looking into this one, it's not fantastic. I listen to it only once for every 5 or 10 times I listen to the other ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truth and Punk, September 2, 2007
This review is from: Anger & the Truth (Audio CD)
Once again the unseen come charged and pissed and are just as political as ever. This cd, as well as So this is freedom is some really cool cd's and raw energy from the get go. These albums to me are one of the best, one you should pick up for sure.
