Tech N9ne is the greatest rapper alive. Bottom line. For those of you that only like mainstream rap, you may want to broaden your horizons. You're not going to hear any songs about getting krunk in the club, unnecessarily bustin' caps at n*ggaz, or how sweet Tech's rims are. What you will hear are songs about real life issues, such as abortion ("Real Killer"), marriage ("This Ring"), and Tech's misunderstood image ("Devil Boy"). He mixes controversial material with a dark horror theme and it works great. Tech N9ne can flow better than ANY rapper out there today... think Twista with better lyrics and a more wicked sound. In my opinion, even the supposed greatest rappers of all time (e.g. 2 Pac, Biggie, Dre, etc.) don't come close to matching Tech's skills. I'd like to see Pac or Dre try to rap as fast as Tech, while putting on one of the most energetic live shows in the industry today... wouldn't happen! I'm not hating on those guys, but I think Tech outshines more than 99% of the rappers out there (dead or alive), both lyrically and performance wise. Plus, Big Krizz Kaliko is like the underground Nate Dogg, Kutt is tight, and most of Tech's beats are sick too, so he certainly isn't lacking in the support department.

As far as the album goes, "Anghellic" definitely has a more underground and serious feel to it than his follow-up "Absolute Power". Both albums are great, but if I had to pick one "Anghellic" would be slightly superior. Here is a track-by-track breakdown for dat azz:

1. Devil Boy - (B+) - I like the fact that there is no "Intro" on the CD, which seems to be a prerequisite for releasing a rap album now-a-days. This song is a good opener... not one of my personal favorites, but it sets the tone well.
2. Hellevator - (Skit)
3. Tormented - (A-) - This song took some time to grow on me, but now I love it. Crazy rapping!!
4. Stamina - (A+) - This is possibly the best 10 second track ever. I've never loved something this short so much!! Great in concert too!
5. Sinister Tech - (B+) - Another really good track. This one also takes a little time to grow on you.
6. Psycho Messages - (Skit)
7. Psycho Bxtch - (A+) - This is one of my favorites. A classic Tech song, wicked and hard-hitting. I love how they transformed the Halloween theme song into a SICK beat. Makes you want to stay away from psycho bxtches!!
8. Real Killer - (A-) - The chorus could use a little work, but any song about killing babies gets a thumbs up. I'd like to see Will Smith remake this one.
9. Cursed - (B) - This is a good song too. It's a low-key rap track and doesn't have the energy of the previous tracks, but it's still tight.
10. Suicide Letters - (B) - A solid slow track, in which Tech lets us know his suicidal thoughts. Yet another topic that most mainstream rappers won't touch. This is the best suicide rap song since "1-800-Suicide" by the Gravediggaz. The chick's voice sounds good on the chorus too.
11. Purgatory - (Skit)
12. It's Alive - (A) - KC-MO.....Whoaaaa...Ohhh! 'Nuff said.
13. Einstein - (A) - Great song! For first-time Tech N9ne listeners, this is a good track to start with.
14. Breathe - (A+) - WOW! This has to be one of my all-time favorite Tech songs. The flow is so sick it gives you the flu. I love the dark feeling of the whole track.
15. Who You Came To See - (C) - This is the second worst song on the album, but it still isn't terrible. When you look at all of the other great songs on the album though, this one just seems average.
16. Wake Up Call - (Skit)
17. This Ring - (A+) - This is another favorite. Voted as Tech N9ne's "best track ever" by his fans -- you'll see why once you listen to it.
18. God Complex - (A-) - The goodness keeps coming. Amen.
19. F.T.I. - (A-) - Another classic Tech track, which was released along with the F.T.I. (Fxck The Industry) commercials that he made. This one features the whole Strange Music family... the superior sequel can also be found on the Kottonmouth Kings "No. 7" album, where Tech spits a fantastic verse as well.
20. Going Bad - (D-) - The is one of the worst Tech N9ne songs that I've heard and is really the only song that I would say "sucks" on this album. The chorus is beyond boring and the whole track has nothing going for it. Oh well, we'll let this one slide.
21. Heaven - (Skit)
22. Twisted -- (C+) -- I'd consider this the third worst track on the album, but once again it still isn't that bad. Tech seems to think very highly of this track, no doubt because he got to work with the legendary Roger Troutman on it. Not a favorite and definitely not an example of why I love Tech, but I still respect the effort and change of style.

Overall, if want a change of pace from the ordinary, get this album and give Tech a chance. If you like anything along the lines of ICP, Twiztid, Necro, KMK and Esham, you will definitely like this. Even if you hate the wicked shxt, but still like rappers such as Twista or Bone Thugs, I think you'll find yourself impressed with Tech's skills. I can't wait for Everready: The Religion!!! TechN9ne has obvioulsy been in the game for awhile. With this sophomore LP(correct me if I am wrong) he travels into your mind on all kinds of strange levels.

"Anghellic" doesn't really attack religion, but rather uses it as a strong symbolism. Most of the tracks deal with Tech's personal problems(i.e. Suicide Letters) and his struggles with being a father(i.e. Real Killer).

This album can be quite offensive to sensitive listeners(i.e. "I crack you open like the youngest male kennedy"). Basically, this album deals with the R-E-A-L. And when I say "The Real" I don't mean some fake gangsta' BS or some fake hardcore rapper image(although he blends both nicely). Tech deals with everyday issues that the average American inner city youth go through(i.e. abortion, suicide).

Perhaps the best thing about this album is that it contains something for everyone. If you want to hear about sex then just flip to track 13. If you want to hear about the evil that men do then just flip to track 20. Girl problems? Flip to track 6. It is an album well worth listening too. So go peep it. peace.

Tech N9ne is clearly a complex, versatile emcee, and deserves to be commended on that. You could even compare him to someone like Pharoah Monch, except even more twisted. With "Anghellic," he puts his wide array of skills to good use, executing a solid album concept very nicely. The album's highlights come on Psycho ...and This Ring, vivid tracks showcasing true mic skills, and solid production. On Cursed, Tech comes with a concept which is not new, but he executes it to perfection, making it another album highlight. Other solid tracks include the first single Its Alive, and God Complex.Although the album is laid-out very nicely, it does falter on a couple of occasions. Real Killer and PR 2K1 dont add anything fresh or exciting to the overall feel of the album. Other times, on tracks like Tormented, Tech sounds like he experimented a little too much for his own good, resulting in tracks that just sound sloppy. However, even on the album's weaker cuts, Tech displays his complex lyrical skills, which in some cases save a track from being complete trash. Overall, Anghellic's flaws can be overlooked, as this is an album which makes most of today's overplayed hip-hop look like garbage. If you're looking for a complex, diverse album by a talented emcee, Anghellic is it.

JUST BECAUSE YOU DONT LIKE THE DETAILED STORY OF TECH'S LIFE MEAN THE ACTUAL SONGS ARE BAD??..YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO THE SONGS OVER WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT THE DARKNESS OF THIS MAN LIFE!..HE IS A GENIUS WITH HIS LYRICS,AND TELL-TELL STORIE LINE...JUST BECAUSE AN ALBUM IS DIFFERENT DOESNT MEAN IT'S BAD...

Tech N9ne displays unbelievable talent and strength in his album "AngHellic". His hunger for fortune and fame has obviously pushed him to be the best he can be. His flows are incredible, his style is unique and original. He is very much aware of the direction that rap is heading and will stop at nothing to change it into what it was made to be in the first place, the competition of REAL talent. He has recently released another heavy-hittin' album labeled "Absolute Power" (which you should strongly consider purchasing also and includes a DVD and bonus tracks) and gives you, the fan, a chance to listen to his CD first before buying it!!! ... Please support Tech N9ne and buy one, or both, of his albums you will definatly not regret it, he will be BIG in the near future no doubt! These albums are only for the TRUE rap fans, if you like 2Pac or Bone Thugs N Harmony you will love Tech N9ne!

Tech is the best rapper "alive" next to the deceased 2Pac. Tech lets you in on his life and is not afraid to say what he is thinking ("Real Killa", "Suicide Notes"). Not alot of club dance hit, it is WAY beyond that. Lyrics are the best out there, he can switch styles at the drop of a hat. Whole album tells a story from beginning to end, crazy insane beats (a heart beating). Many songs will shock you and make you rewind it and listen again. Best album I have ever listened to ALL TIME!
Check out his old stuff also, just as crazy and more underground sound. He spent alot of time and money on this album, that is why after he was dropped from JayCor he went to their offices to get his album back and re-release it. This album is his life.
Best album EVER hands down!

This album is not for everyone. But if you are into expanding your musical interests, or are just sick of the same old Rap they play on the radio, this album is for you. My principle interest in music is in no way, shape, or form the rap genre. I am a Heavy Metal fan. So, when I can say that a rap album is excellent, it is truly above anything that is getting played on any radio station, anywhere.

Tech N9ne is an amazing artist, with so much talent I believe we will be seeing alot of albums from him. His style is all his own, ranging from more mellow songs (This Ring), to blazingly fast original material (Stamina), to exploring his own personal demons and making them painfully clear to everyone (Suicide Letters).

Original, honest, and sometimes disturbing, Tech will be in your CD player for a long time.

Tech N9ne is an anomoly. He is smart, talented, and insightful. His music has meaning behind it and he has the tremendous talent to deliver it. Quite frankly, Tech N9ne is the best "flowing" rapper I have ever heard.

And thats not the end. The cons that come with flowing rappers typically involve vocal weakness. I cant remember Twista or Krayzie Bone doing a hard track that is memorable - although thats not to say they arent talented. Point is, Tech is the best of both worlds.

Tech addresses topics most rappers wouldnt. "Real Killer" is an example, where Tech addresses his conflicted feelings in the past about an abortion. "This Ring" addresses marriage. "Cursed", woman problems. Most rappers stop at how they are rich or how they kill people or how they have a lot of women. Tech pushes these aside as trivial and moves deeper.

The CD is interestingly themed in that at the beginning of the CD, Tech is 'in hell' and as the CD progresses he gradually ascends into 'heaven'. Hence - 'Anghellic'.

This album was a memorable experience for me. It's depth and number of quality tracks will keep you involved long after you pop it into your CD player. I'll stop short of calling it the best ever only because it has competition with 2Pac and maybe Dr. Dre. See Tech live if you can.

NOTE: Anghellic was re-released in 2003 after Absolute Power was released. The newer version is called "Anghellic Reparation" and contains new tracks "Devil Boy", "Breathe" (love that one), and "FTI". I cant decide which version I prefer. They're both pretty solid. I think I would lean towards original release.

I just bought this album not realizing it was any different than the 2001 release. This second version was released in 2003. It has some bonus tracks that are okay, but they replace some of the best songs on the original album, including P.R. 2kI, Here I Come, and This Life. P.R. 2k1 is the very first Tech N9ne song I had ever heard, and Here I Come is one of my absolute favorites (partially because it gives a shout out to Lawrence, KS). I can't say I like every song, but it is a great album. But get the 2001 release!!

This is a good album folks....I like underground rap and stuff but this album is like it's mainstream but still has it's underground taste and that's hott.

Tech N9ne wants to get on mainstream now and I think it's going to happen!!! This is a good album so may argue that Absolute Power is better but I dunno they both are pretty up there.

If you in the Midwest then this is a must get...if you livin' in my area then it is a must have and if you anywhere else then I guess you could also pick this up. Peace folks!!!
