So many books have been published on Angkor and I don't know where to start on my review. This book on Angkor is excellent with photographs and wonderful information about the temples their layout purpose as well as the ruler or god-king who commissioned the temple. So many books have been published on Angkor and I don't know where to start on my review. This book on Angkor is excellent with photographs and wonderful information about the temples their layout purpose as well as the ruler or god-king who commissioned the temple. The book also provides maps of the Seam Reap area and where all the temples are situated. So when I look at the map I feel and see that Angkor was a thriving city with many temples and palaces, canals and rice paddies like the Aztec, Mayan and other civilization. Many superb and clear photographs of Angkor's temples and some artifacts from the Cambodian National Museum Phnom as well as from around the World housing Khmer works of art. So much work has gone into making this book and I believe it's a very worthwhile book to have for those Angkor lovers out there!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent primer on Angkor, March 31, 2001
This review is from: Angkor (Cultural Studies) (Hardcover)
I've recently purchased and read a number of books to prepare for an upcoming trip to Angkor. Of the books that I have read, this is by far the best. Excellent photography accompanied by detailed descriptions of temple architecture make this book an excellent primer for the traveler.

The book includes detailed two - four page descriptions of each of the major temples. The appendix also includes a nice overview of Khmer architectural techniques.
