A Great Read,
By A Customer
This review is from: Angle of Impact (Hardcover)
I read "Breach of Trust" and thought it was very good, but I enjoyed "Angle of Impact" even more. This book was exciting from the first chapter to the last. I liked that the main character, Dana, was more take charge than the lead female character in "Breach." I didn't find Whit's part as likeable and was a little disapointed he didn't get dumped at the end (he doesn't deserve Dana). MacDougal could have developed some of the characters better, such as the other lawyers Dana worked with. I had trouble putting this book down and would recommend it without reserve.

Splendid Technological Seminar,
By A Customer
This review is from: Angle of Impact (Hardcover)
A Technological Seminar of the First Order. Philadelphia lawyer Dana Svenssen emerges as a brilliant, complex, driven lawyer, whose technical, legal, creative, tough girl skills seem to know no bounds. Facing a daunting challenge in defending clients during an aviation disaster, she brings in the experts - and from them we learn. The technical knowledge range is awesome and educational. But it is presented in such a way that the plot keeps moving and the suspense heightens. As the author begins, "Certainty generally is illusion, and repose is not the destiny of man." (Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.)

This review is from: Angle of Impact (Bookcassette(r) Edition) (Audio Cassette)
Flowing storyline with well developed characters and scenes. Action keeps rolling with very few lulls. About as deep as a Grisham novel, with ample twists and turns. Very good narration with emphatic voice characterizations and distinct personalities. Hard to put down.

Boring,
By A Customer
This review is from: Angle of Impact (Mass Market Paperback)
I know a lot of people seemed to like this book, but I just couldn't get into it. I managed to finish it, but I do not recommend it. Boring plot, boring characters. Very little suspense. Don't bother with this one.

Fast Read & Original Premise,

This review is from: Angle of Impact (Mass Market Paperback)
Great fast paced read! I loved the lead character too, everyone can picture someone like this they know. A very original crash to start things off and revolve around. I highly recommend this book, don't listen to one or two miserable readers (if they even read this book!), put this book at or near the top of your list!

Impossible to put down!,

This review is from: Angle of Impact (Hardcover)
This book grabbed me and wouldn't let go until the last page. MacDougal is the Cornwell of novels about the law profession. She painted pictures in my mind, and included a fascinating mix of action and courtroom scenes. I can't wait for more!

Great legal drama!,

This review is from: Angle of Impact (Hardcover)
A great legal thriller for fans of the sub-genre and fans of suspense novels in general. MacDougal is a very talented writer and her novel's level of suspense should make John Grisham sit up and take notice!

Gripping from first to last!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Angle of Impact (Hardcover)
Angle of Impact caught me up in the first scene where the helicopter goes down, to the last, touching scene where-- but I won't tell the complete plot. A gripping read that kept me turning pages. For a few minutes I thought I had left the book somewhere and I was very upset because I wouldn't get to finish it. I enjoyed the love story between Dana and her husband, Whit, and Whit's courage as a kidnap victim was touching, as was Dana's rediscovery of her love for him. A fascinating look at the world of the big law firm from one who knows.

A Spellbinding Thriller,
By Horse314@aol.com (Friendsville, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Angle of Impact (Hardcover)
I have read Bonnie MacDougal's previous novel, BREACH OF TRUST, and was completely enthralled. However, with this new novel, ANGLE OF IMPACT, MacDougal outdoes herself. The novel starts with a bang, and never stops moving. I found myself caught up in the action, and unable to put the book down. Dana Svenssen, MacDougal's main character, is a heroine unlike any I have ever encountered, and I found it easy to identify with her problems and triumphs. I would highly recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys a fast-paced, high stakes thriller.

The talent is there, it just needs to be honed a bit,

This review is from: Angle of Impact (Hardcover)
While rushing to a meeting, Philadelphia lawyer, Dana Svenssen is talking on her car phone with a client. Suddenly, the man's helicopter collides with a plane over an amusement park where Dana's two daughters are spending the day. Dana rushes over to the fiery site to insure that her beloved children are okay, which they are. Dana soon finds her car and her home have been burglarized as if someone was searching for something. She also learns that her client's crash was not an accident. However, knowing that makes things worse for Dana, who is now fighting for her life against an unknown assailant(s). ANGLE OF IMPACT is an interesting thriller, with action scenes that are very exciting. However, though Dana is as tough as any male SOB, she garners no empathy from readers. Worse yet, the secondary players have so little depth, they seem to be less than one-dimensional. All that aside, the action based storyline with its' jibes at the legal profession turn Bonnie MacDougal's novel into an exciting novel, though it is NO BREACH OF TRUST. Harriet Klausner |
