I wanted to see who was knocking,
This review is from: Wide Angle Peephole Door Viewer Doorscope 2- 3/8" Silver Metal (Misc.)
I wanted to see who was knocking at the door because I am really tired of sales people who ignore my no solicitation sign at my door and having to be rude to them. So after looking up on the internet which kind of door peeper was best we bought this one. I like the fact I do not have to put my face next to the door to see who is there and my husband and I checked to see with or with out the inside light on if anyone could tell we were there and neither of us could. What you see is like a mirror image (wall is on the other side of where it is) and slightly fuzzy (my husband says it has to be that way so no one can tell if anyone is looking at them through the peeper). Because it looks so different from the old type ones - most people have no idea what it is. We have a sensor light right above our so at night we can see who is there. Works real good - just wish at times it was clearer - but at least I can tell if I know the person or not.

Although this product looks huge when it is first unpacked, it did not look overwhelming on our 8' front door. It gives a wide angle view of what's outside the door, and beyond. We have a covered porch, but the viewer gathers enough light to see anyone standing in the shade. Inside, it's like looking at a tiny LCD screen. Although the product description says "viewable from 7-10 feet", I'd say 4-5 feet is more realistic. One benefit of this item is it allows someone in a wheelchair to easily see who's outside. The silver metal looks like polished chrome; I would like to see it offered in a brushed nickel to more closely match my other door hardware. We had our carpenter install it as he was doing other work for us at the time and I did not have the 2 3/8" drillbit needed. This Doorscope is definitely a conversation piece - everyone who sees it exclaims over it.

I've been looking for this product for a long time. Finally I found it and immediately ordered it.I love it. It's like having a mini lcd color screen as a peephole. You can see it from several feet away without getting up close to it like you would with a regular peephole. The only problem is the drill bit you need to use. It's a really hard one to find cheap. 2 3/8" Other than that it works awesome! I love it.

the picture is flipped left to right but it doesnt matter. I didn't want to buy the correct sized hole saw so I used one that is 1/4 bigger. Worked ok. I can stand 6,7 feet away and see out. Does not work very well at night though. Finish quality is pretty good. Wish shipping was free.

View Outside with 2 3/8" Wide Angle Peep Hole From Anywhere in Room,

You can't see outside totally clear from just any location in the room, but you can see well enough to know what is happening outside. I can see my entire circular driveway and yard. I put the door viewer a couple of inches higher than the center of the door. I wish I had put it lower at the middle of the door. I don't need to see if there is an 8' tall man outside or what is happening on my roof as much as the ground - is there a skunk or a pittbull on the ground outside the door? I cannot see the ground for about six feet from the door. Putting the viewer lower would increase the view of the immediate ground-level. The viewer does not need to be at eye-level to see out of it. You can see just as well if the viewer is a foot above or below eye level. If you unscrew the viewer when you receive it out of the box, pay close attention to which direction the concave lenses go back or you may scratch the lenses when re-screwing together. The image is not crystal clear, but good enough I would definitely purchase this viewer again. My friend likes it so much he says he wants install one on every door of any house he lives in in the future. I can't see a thing out of it at night.

Best wide angle peephole for the price. Local hardware store had something similar, but it was inferior, it was made of plastic including the optics. This one is made of Aluminum, and has Great glass optics. Seller shipped product very fast. The best customer service I've ever had on the net. Will by again from this seller "New-Vue". Again I cannot emphasize on how professional this company handled it's customer service. That's what it's all about, and that's how it's done.A. Garcia Miami, Florida

silver metal wide-angle peephole,
This review is from: Wide Angle Peephole Door Viewer Doorscope 2- 3/8" Silver Metal (Misc.)
Wide Angle Peephole Door Viewer Doorscope 2- 3/8" Silver MetalThe metal is aluminum. The product was in stock and works as advertised. It was a pleasure to find metal rather than plastic, and I needed the silver rather than a brass color to go with my door number and door knocker.

It really is a great peephole. It arrived quickly. When it came, I was a little hesitant about making a hole that big in my doorway, but I am really glad that we decided to put it in. It looks good. The Drill bit 2 3/8 costs around $13. Also, on other sites, the Doorscope Large in Silver metal costs at least $30 plus shipping.

I have four of these in all colors, also in both metal and ABS plastic. All of them have a slight blur. Your typical small door viewer has better lens quality. The larger size lens helps compensate a bit for the lower quality blurriness. Lower light conditions affect the visibility even more. I will pay more for better lenses.I use these for my smaller kids, so I need to install them a bit lower,,,ideally to be slightly above the kid's eye level while high enough to see the face of the person outside the door. Due to natural optics characteristics, smaller kids will not be able to use the viewer if installed at adult heights. Overall,,, nice product with acceptable quality,,,, but could be improved.
