They were all drooling over this mask!

The only downside is the optional filter decreases the video quality (but adds beautiful colors) of the mask.

This is a great item. I have only used the mask once but I am already very happy with it. A must is the purchase of the optional filter. The mask is easy to use and allows the diver to concentrate on his/her surroundings without fighting with a handheld camera. I read other reviews prior to purchasing this item. Two complaints were bubbles and not capturing the image in the frame. I only have a total of 12 certified dives; yet, I was able to position myself with very minimal bubble disturbance. As far as the framing issue, the widescreen camera corrects this flaw. Just practice before diving and you'll see how easy it is. The only downside is the optional filter decreases the video quality (but adds beautiful colors) of the mask. I have only used the mask once so maybe it was user error. I'll find out after my next few dives. Call Liquid Image about size of mask. They told me 90% of users need a medium. They will send you a size chart just to make sure.

P.S. Buy the "Liquid Image Blue Water Filter with 16GB Card + Batteries & Charger + Accessory Kit for Scuba Series Mid-Size Underwater High Definition Digital Camera Mask HD" and save money.

We went diving on Christmas day so that my husband could try out his new toy. There were 13 of us diving that day, and my husband was the center of attention. They were all drooling over this mask! LOL

By the end of the day, over half of the folks on the boat had decided to buy one.

Now, some info about it.

Surprisingly lightweight and compact, my husband said it felt no heavier than his normal dive mask. It was comfortable, and left no red marks on his face at the end of the dives. We were concerned that the lights would be distracting, but he said he could barely see them, although I could see them from the outside.

We dive with 3mm gloves, and he could operate the mask without problems. Of course, the first couple of times are experimental as you figure out the controls.

The lens is wide-angle, or fish-eye, so the quality of the pictures underwater is unbelievable. Out of water, it's a little odd. The video quality is superb. He set the first dive to video, and when we watched it later, it was like doing the dive again.

There's no macro setting, and you can't exactly shove your face into an eel's hole to get a photo, as you can a standard camera. The camera is set at the top of the mask, and you have to learn to angle your face down slightly to frame a photo correctly. The manual says there are a set of crosshairs on the mask to aid with framing, but neither my husband nor I can see them.

Apart from these two minor negatives, this mask is fantastic. There's no fiddling with an extra piece of equipment, as with standard cameras, or worrying about dropping or losing it. No bits to be washed and set and prepared. The mask washes off in clean water, and you're ready to go again.

As an avid scuba diver I bought this camera to take video and pictures under water. I've used older film cameras and newer digital cameras under water before. One thing that I noticed was I wanted some thing to shoot video more hands free, thus the Liquid Image Camera mask came in. I must say that the wide angle lens makes taking professional looking pictures much easer then normal lenses. I do recommend getting the color filter to help wash out the blue or green color depending on what water you are diving in. I didn't not get the filter and wish I did. I will soon though. That being said at night this camera shined and took amazing photos and videos. The color and the clarity amazed me and other scuba instructors. The one thing that I didn't like is that you can't review your pictures witch I expected for this device but it was some thing that I hope the next model has. But the trade off for not having a big bulky camera hanging off the side of me for the lcd screen is a fair trade off. I just make sure that I take more pictures to make sure I get the shot. There is a tiny lcd screen that shows battery life and pictures taken but cant see it while diving. There is a led light that changes from red to blue to let you know you are in photo or video mode, and on and off as well as recording. I noticed they fixed this on the new snow goggles and hope to see that on the new scuba mask when ever that comes out. All in all I loved this camera and will be taking it on future dives. For those who are instructors it's a must have so you can include a video of your students dives.

Pros
*720p HD
*Hands Free
*Wide Angle Lens
*Assortment of accessories
Cons
*Can't review photos underwater
*Not rechargeable

The camera in this mask is phenomenal; the mask not as much. Bought this as a gift for a friend and he had difficulty getting the mask to seal properly around his face. This being said, the quality of the underwater video down to about 30 ft. was vibrant and clear.

Maybe it is too soon to make a complete review , but so far so good.Since I bought it I performed 4 dives , two of them at a depth between 60 and 80 feet. The camera worked beautifully ,the filming ( I barely used it as a photograph camera )was clear and colorfull .After the first two dives I recharged the batteries but only as a precaution (I recorded the full time , about 80 minutes ,and regarding the power indicator gauge I probably could use it at least once again) .I turned it on before leaving the boat and turned it off once in the boat again. What I saw I recorded ,I forgot I had a camera working . So ,to me , the main advantage of this item is YOUR HANDS ARE FREE !.
