Editorial Reviews

With over four million views of their videos on YouTube, two smash U.K. singles ('Thou Shalt Always Kill' and 'Beat That My Heart Skipped') and stellar U.S. performances early in 2008 at Coachella and SXSW already under their belts, Britain's hottest export-the duo of Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip-have announced the inking of a deal with Strange Famous Records for the U.S. release of their debut album Angeles. Angeles combines witty and shockingly spot-on decrees from the mind of vocalist Pip with producer Le Sac's mesmeric electro-blessed beats. In constant contention with perceived wisdom and at issue with the sanctity of pop-culture's sacred cows, Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip have become the new faces of 'outsider pop'. Their towering structures of Casio-enthused electro-hip-pop are alien to the conventions of radio programming, and their lyrics even dare to ask questions of themselves and the listener.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, genre-bending January 26, 2009
By Jared
Format:Audio CD
Just wanna have some good new-fashioned fun y'all!!

I found this album to be amazing. The last track, Waiting For The Beat To Kick In, was the first track I heard, and I fell in love. Start there, and you will not be disappointed. As of yet, I have introduced this album to many people, none of whom have disapproved. The album does well as a whole, the words are poetry, the beats, bliss. Listen to The Beat That My Heart Skipped, Angles, and Waiting For The Beat To Kick In, but don't listen to me, listen to this album!

5.0 out of 5 stars Think for yourselves January 12, 2009

Fantastic debut album.
I don't listen to rap/hip-hop but I do love this album. I first saw the band (twice) last summer and was struck by the intelligence of their lyrics and delivery.

If you're looking for some MC bragging about gold, cars, guns, women then you're looking in wrong place. What you do get is poetry with beats about the nature of beauty, the hip-hop scene, depression, suicide, love. It's emotional stuff but hey it's not all doom and gloom there is plenty of humour. Rapping the periodic table anyone?
Check out, Letter From God to Man, Though Shalt Always Kill, for starters.
Is it a warped Bill Hicks if he grew up in the South of England? Punk-rap? Do yourselves a favour, open your ears and take a listen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smart hip-hop, very fun June 10, 2009
Format:Audio CD
Saw their video for Thou Shalt Always Kill on youtube, thought it was GENIUS, and got the rest of the album. Even for people who don't like hip hop that much, this album just rocks. Really good beats, amazing lyrics and cleverness throughout. Sounds like Why?

5.0 out of 5 stars The beat that my heart skips sounded like this August 1, 2014
Format:Audio CD
This is actually my second copy of this album, the first one was lent to a friend never to be seen again. This is a great album there are strong beats and the lyrics are stunning. IF you are looking for a traditional rap album, then this is not likely to do it foe you, this is definitely in the genre of spoken word.

This album is safe family listening, my little boy loves the beat that my heart skips. This has the feel if of a very intimate album, and when you see these guys in concert they are just as they sound on the album.

A wonderful album, with fresh beats, thought provoking lyrics and a generally upbeat tempo, that lets you know that these are guys that love music
