Book Description

March 13, 2009
THE ANGLO is the stirring story of loss and renewal, deeply rooted in the windswept landscape of the High Desert Mesa of Northern New Mexico. A random act of violence has a rippling effect on a family and a community. http://jomoorefiction.com "When I set out to write THE ANGLO, my intention was to create a story of the effects of random injustice. The two dominant characters, who are certainly flawed, but certainly not depraved, and whose only real sin was that they loved each other (too much), become witnesses---witnesses to events that would change their lives forever. Events from which it would be impossible to recover. But in the end, when the circle is complete, redemption is inevitable."

5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful and Powerfully Moving, May 20, 2009
By
H. Festus (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Anglo (Paperback)
A portrait of a brief moment in time. Powerfully written, deeply rooted in the scenic Southwest. Love the desert!

Poignant and unpredictable. Not at all a linear format. In the end, I felt like I was coming home.

She has held a mirror up to the short-comings of this modern dilemma we are in---in an unforgettable way.

Great story line and character development. Couldn't wait to see how the lives of the characters connected and how the story ended. Made me miss New Mexico!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Strong Commentary, March 17, 2009
By
Page Turner (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Anglo (Paperback)
A stark indictment of the random injustice of both our failing healthcare system and the criminal justice system. The Anglo tells the too-often-told tale of an orphan in the making. Another and another and another falls victim to cancer. The war on cancer---it's about time we make it our priority. The author has an artistic vision like that of a landscape painter. I felt like I was right there with these characters---in their landscape, in their midst. They will not soon leave my psyche.
