Product Description

Bitters are to a cocktail as salt is to soup. Angostura Aromatic Bitters is a highly concentrated food and beverage flavoring. Made from a secret formula, it is a unique blend of natural herbs and spices which is used to flavor a wide variety of foods and drinks. The "secret" was developed in 1824 by Dr. J.G.B. Siegert, a Surgeon General in Simon Bolivar's army in Venezuela. He used his aromatic bitters to improve appetite and digestive well-being of the soldiers. The word "Angostura" came from the town of that name in Venezuela where Dr. Siegert was based. For more great brands and flavors, check out our complete selection of cocktail bitters! In stock and ready to ship. Features: Great for flavoring numerous classic cocktails. Specs: Capacity: 4 oz. 44.7% alcohol by volume.

Expensive,good product.

This imparts a deep down, luxurious undertone of dark vanilla flavor and then some to your cream sauces, cakes, icings and smoothies as well as cocktails.

Anyone who knows anything about mixology, knows bitters are an essential ingredient in a well stocked bar, esp. in making 'old fashions'.

First, let me talk about the product. It's an essential ingredient for many cocktails, and I like using it in numerous cooking dishes too. A couple drops in a skillet of sauteed mushrooms adds a great complexity.

I've got nothing bad to say at all about the product.

My problem is the price. Angostura bitters are available *everywhere*, this isn't some hard to find niche item. Wal-Mart sells it, and at about 1/3 the price. Virtually every liquor store will sell this, for less than half of what Amazon is asking.

I just don't see the motivation to buy it here.

It's true! This does add an exquisite flavor to almost anything! Try it on ice cream, fruits, jellies, sodas, you name it! Also a stimulant ofr the appetite and for flatulence! And it's not just for bart-ending! Even though it's almost 45% Alcohol by volume. You won't believe the difference until you try it! And I just discovered it's supposed to be the best mosquito repellent around! Be warned though that it will stain clothing, fabric, and most items if left to dry on them.

I mix a few dashes of this into naturally carbonated(sparkling) spring water , and make my own "diet soda", sans all the dubious , carcinogenic(?) artificial sweeteners.

Delicious and unique. I've turned many of my friends on to this healthy, inexpensive drink.

This is the classic bitters called for in most cocktails which list bitters as an ingredient. I enjoy Angostura in everything from a Champagne cocktail to an old fashioned. Angostura bitters is a necessity in any well-stocked bar.

HOWEVER, buying a 4 oz bottle of bitters on Amazon will cost you...$14.21 (as of 4/2/14)...a lot more than it should. I bought a 4 oz bottle of Angostura bitters at my local liquor store (in Chicago, where things are generally more expensive) for $8.99.

In short, if you fancy yourself an amateur mixologist you'll need Angostura bitters in your arsenal; just be smart and don't overpay.

Alright, if you make old style/craft cocktails, you know this product and you use this product. For someone new, this is pretty much the basic go-to bitters. Angostura bitters is part of any well-stocked bar.

An old Irish barman in NYC would take a rocks glass and add a heaping teaspoon of sugar and douse the sugar with the bitters then muddle the sugar and bitters and add club soda. Try it the next time you have a queer stomach.

What really needs to be said about Angostura bitters? You cannot make a good Manhattan or Old Fashioned without them. Just a few drops is all you really need to add a complex flavor profile to your drink.

I saw this on Doctor OZ and bought this for my dad as the doctor said a couple od drops in a glass of water will help with farting. My Dad laughed and my mom thanked me
