Build, Launch, and Destroy…for Real!
The evil green pigs have stolen the Angry Birds’ eggs, so now the vengeance-seeking birds are poised to attack with everything they’ve got! This thrilling skill-and-action game is based on the bestselling mobile app Angry Birds on Thin Ice, the second installment of the wildly popular game series. Fans will love all the building and smashing action with fun structural pieces and snappable ice girders. Players draw mission cards and build the indicated structures before their opponents knock them — and the pigs — down to score points. The first player to earn 1,000 points wins the game!

Tailor the Game to Players’ Skills
The mission cards feature four levels of difficulty (and corresponding levels of points), so you can decide how you want to play. Select a mission card from any of the four levels and give the card to the next player — they have to build the indicated castle that you’re going to shoot down. For the first three levels, the castle should be built exactly as indicated on the card. The fourth and most difficult level is freestyle, which lets you create your own structures within a specific set of guidelines. Once the castle is built, it’s time for you to shoot it down!

Comes With Exciting Game Pieces
The game's structural pieces include “wood” beams and snappable “ice” girders, along with three green pigs and two construction hats. A TNT box adds an extra explosive element of fun — when it falls, it pops open to create more chaos and then can be easily refolded for the next round. The slingshot-style catapult launcher fits either of the two Angry Birds (one Big Red and one Yellow). To operate, simply insert the Angry Bird, pull back, and let go to launch and destroy!

What's In The Box?
40 mission cards, 16 points cards, one Angry Birds launcher, two Angry Birds, three pigs, two pig helmets, one TNT box, five girders, three breakable ice girders, two ice blocks, and two ice cubes

Fairly entertaining, but can be a little frustrating too.

If the pieces had solid edges making them easier to stack and more stable this would be a very fun game.

The kids absolutely love it; I've had a lot of fun playing this with my kids as well.

This toy is a lot of fun. Children young and old are quite familiar with Angry Birds on their smartphone, tablet, or whatever else. This is a great way to have your kids take a break from the technology and actually interact and play with their hands, instead of just their fingertips on a screen.

The concept is relatively simple of pulling cards of different set-ups to build and then launching the Angry Birds at the structure.

Parents might need to step-in to help little kiddos assemble the structures or provide some guidance on how to work the catapult. Assembling the structure exactly to the picture on the cards takes some doing, but it's not impossible. It's pretty difficult to hit anything with the catapult, but it's fun to try and try again. If you're actually trying to win, it might be good to bend the rules to allow enough tries to hit something, particularly if you have young children. For us, we take turns building it, while the other keeps trying until it gets knocked down. Simple.

I am going to take a different stance on this review. My son loves this set. The thing is, he doesn't play it by the rules so I can't describe how it is. Under normal circumstances, this game is not easy as aiming the birds in a 3-D world is a lot different than on a 2-D phone screen. My boy doesn't use it as a game though. He uses it as a toy. He does make-believe like you would any other toy set. In that regard, he has a lot of fun with it. He creates his own set-ups and takes his other toys to add some flare to his "levels" and proceeds to do his own thing. He also combines this with the other boxed game to create bigger levels with more pigs and birds. So basically, used as a toy, it's really cool. Used as a game, I don't know, I haven't really tried it other than to try to aim with the catapult (and I did it poorly).

My mother and I bought the "on thin ice" game for my niece. She is five years old and loves angry birds. Just for the giggles of it, we cracked it open to give it a test. We both thought the idea was really good, however there was one problem- the launcher is absolutely useless. The bird either flies straight up or it only flies a few inches. We could not imagine how a 5 year old would be able to figure out the mechanics of it. Perhaps I might be able to macguyver a slingshot that would work better. Either way, this game is virtually unplayable.

We as many others here love the angry birds computer/smart phones games, my kids were so happy when we bought this game they are 5 and 8 yo. The toy claims it can be played by a 5 year old kid but that is not true, they can not setup the pieces as described on the cards, they need help. I got really frustrated trying to help my kids setup the pieces as the cards indicate. If you think you will spend time destroying the fortified pig castles (which is what the original Angry Birds games do)you are wrong, you will spend probably 80 or 90 % of your time trying to put the pieces together and only a small amount of time actually doing what angry birds do. The main issue about the pieces is that the design is not good so you need to be extra careful while trying to put one on top of the other, probably they did it on purpose so that you could destroy them more easily but MANY TIMES that makes the pieces fall while setting them up.

The game is super simple to play. You draw a card from 4 piles and build the structure the card displays. With the 4th pile you build a custom structure based on what pieces the card says you can use. Once the structure is built you fling the birds in the order they appear on the card. Only the Yellow and Red (really fat bird) have been included in this game. If you knock down all of the pigs then you earn points based on the level, where level 1 is 100 points, level 2 is 200 points, etc. The first player to reach 1,000 points wins the game.

The concept of the game is great, bring the Angry Birds experience to the real world. Allow us to have a tangible attachment to the Angry Birds universe. In these regards the game succeeds. You'll quickly get wrapped up in the levels, enjoy it when you knock over all of the pigs with 1 bird, and rejoice when your skills bring home the points you need to win.

However, the execution of the concept is very poor. The problems with the game are not how its played but how the pieces have been formed from plastic. The designer behind this game didn't put much thought into how the virtual renditions would actually function in the real world, with real people setting them up, etc.

Here are the issues, the pieces are not solid all the way around. The ice is solid on 5 sides, where the back side is open. This mean you have only a few possible ways to arrange the ice. So if the card calls for a piece that lays on its side, you have 3 options (top, bottom, front -- in most cases). The solid front and back are great because they offer the greatest surface area. Using them it is really easy to stack and build the level, but these side are also the most secure. So this means that it is much harder to knock over the pieces.
