4.0 out of 5 stars Great band, but zero stars for...., March 24, 2008
This review is from: Angular (MP3 Download)
The last track, which contains about five minutes of music and sixteen or so more minutes of noise. Just so people know what I mean by noise, I don't mean noisy music, or experimental music, or ambient music, all of which I can appreciate on their own terms if I am so inclined. By noise I mean noise, as in having no musical properties at all, or virtually none, over and above a single tone undulating endlessly for no reason. There are a few sound effects positioned through-out.

Certain prog-rockers get slammed for the length of their songs or just the wandering, exploratory nature of their music, and they get called pretentious and pompous. In my opinion this twenty-plus minute track deserves to be called pretentious and pompous because one would have to be pretentious and perhaps even a little pompous to think that someone would sit through fifteen minutes of non-musical sound simply because it's included on an album that does contain music. Why do this? Is there a point at all?
