My boys love reading Animal Boogie and my 3 year old often requests to keep it on his bed so he can read it by himself when he wakes up in the morning. Both he and his 16 month old brother love the lyrics and the tune. We have made up motions to go with the words and they love dancing to the book. I was thankful that our copy came with a CD so I could learn the right tune. There is music on the last page, but I had a hard time figuring out the rythym of the last page, so I was thankful for the CD. I think their favorite is the Bear! Shake Shake Boogie Woogie Oogie!! They just giggle, it's so cute!

We checked this out at the library and after one reading I knew we needed our own copy. We've had it for a year now and they still squeal when I take it from the shelf. We made up our own motions to go with the lyrics. The girls love pointing out the colorful birds and critters in the pictures so much, it takes forever to read it,... It's a delight!

I was happy to see that on this web page credit is given to the woman who wrote the lyrics. Our copy only has Debbie Harter's name on it (and I looked for a writer's name). ... Stella Blackstone earned it--this book is a riot.

Although this book references jungle animals, I use it as an activity when teaching my K-2 about the rainforest. The children absolutely love it. It can also be used as a way to compare the animals in the jungle vs the animals in the rainforest. This year the children put on a performance with the music from the CD. The children's faces were painted according to the animal they represented and they danced away. Just a little imagination and the ideas from this book can be endless....

Engaging art work, rhythmic sounds, and a strong beat make this a winner in the pre-schooler crowd. The style is comparable to "Jamberry" or perhaps even "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom", a chance for your child to delve into interesting sounds and rhythms as they become aware of the richness of their language. Yes, it's kind of silly!

Yes, it is exhausting as an adult to have to be so repetitive, however, children find rhymes and repitition comforting and entertaining; aside from that, rhymes and repitition are excellent tools for speech development and for encouraging speech-delayed children to finish the phrases and repeat the sounds/words. My son is speech-delayed and we have three of these books becaue as tedious as it is for me to sing these books to him, they hold his interest, and they have been wonderful tools for us. I would recommend these to everyone, but especially to parents of speech-delayed children!! We also love We All Go Traveling By and Driving My Tractor from the same publisher.

We love singing along to the CD that comes with the book. It's a great book that kids enjoy time & time again!
Catchy tune & repetitive lines make it easy for children to learn the words.

Our kids LOVE this book! Our sons all enjoy music and their Kindermusik teacher shared this book with us. We now have our own at home and the boys LOVE acting it out.

I know this book really well, each week at our local farmers market I present this book as part of my story time.

All the kids love to dance to the music, my 3 year old daughter usually leads the dance. Shake like the bear, stomp like the elephant, flap like the bird etc

The pictures are great, they have fantastic color and the people in true Barefoot style represent different cultures.

This is a fun book, a must have, I recommend it to everyone

The Animal Boogie by Debbie Harter This whimsically illustrated jungle book is a delight for any child to guess from the clues which engage his mind, which animal will be dancing on the next page . The simple words are full of engaging sounds which will capture the child's imagination. The sing-along CD is so much fun to listen to that you will be up dancing the animal boogie with your child. Definitely a good gift fo holiday giving!

Our 2-year-old loves this book. It's bright and colourful with great illustrations. He asks for this book every day and knows all the words by heart. A great addition to his library.
