Like listening to a Fascinating Conversation,

Dr. Jim Humphries discusses various issues concerning cats in a conversational tone. The book's question & answer format is easy to follow and is much like popular Internet FAQ's. Each question is a real question that Dr. Humphries encountered. You get to read the original question, so that in addition to getting the information you also get a glimpse of a unique human-cat relationship behind every question. The book covers practically every aspect of caring for your cat. Health, nutrition, behavior and grooming as well as everyday care problems, are all discussed thoroughly. What appealed to me in particular was that this vet does not forget basic feline issues, even when they are not directly related to our pampered babies at home. In fact, the first part of the book deals with questions about humane societies, abused cats and strays, declawing, euthanasia and the so important issue of spaying and neutering. Another nice feature is that Dr. Humphries is not afraid to speak his own mind. All through the book, he frequently names specific brands of food and medicine and either approves or disapproves. His advice is straight and to the point. Rather than having a "disclaimer", he simply makes his claims. This book makes a good reading, even if you're not looking for a specific answer to a problem. This is not a cat encyclopedia. The Q&A format makes it less orderly and creates a more fluent structure.
