Manufacturer's Description

Animal Crossing for Nintendo GameCube lets you explore a world that thrives 24-7, and Animal Crossing-e cards add to the fun! The cards show ultracool images of your favorite friends, and certain cards contain passwords and encoded game data which you can use with the Animal Crossing game to receive awesome gifts.

The latest series of Animal Crossing-e cards are more fun than ever. On top of all the great gifts available from the Animal Crossing character cards, new game cards allow you to download cool Jump Rope and Relay Racing games to your Game Boy Advance. Scan a game card, then scan some character cards to watch your favorite Animal Crossing citizens compete. Other new features include double-character sibling cards and all-new town tune and design cards.

Game Cards: Game cards allow you to play special minigames on your Game Boy Advance. Collect both the Jump Rope and Relay Racing games, then use your character cards to watch your favorite characters compete. Experiment with different characters to find the very best teams!

Character Cards: The latest character cards feature your favorite friends from Animal Crossing, including special characters like Jingle and Tom Nook. Collect them just for fun, or use the passwords printed on certain cards to receive awesome gifts from the animals depicted on the cards. Using the e-Reader, you can instantly receive gifts just by scanning your Animal Crossing-e cards!

Sibling Cards: New sibling cards are like character cards, but they feature two characters on the same card. For example, a new sibling card might feature Mr. Resetti one side and Don on the other. Each side features a unique code which will give you a special gift!

Design Cards: Design cards contain new designs that have never been seen before in your Animal Crossing town. Talk to Mable Able in the Able Sister's Tailor Shop to scan your cards and access sweet designs.

Town Tune Cards: Visit the town tune bulletin board in your Animal Crossing town to scan a new Animal Crossing-e town tune card. This gives your town a cool custom tune, even if you're not musically inclined!

5.0 out of 5 stars Why so much?, March 16, 2004
By
This review is from: Animal Crossing, Series 3 (Video Game)
Nintendo's website sells these for half this price. Other store have them for like 2.99 a pack. Is this just one pack for this much? WHY?

The cards are fun, and if you like collecting stuff , which is kind of the point of this game, the cards make a nice extra collection also the lay the path to making your townsfolk truly happy. The shirts they wear on the cards are the shirts you should send them.

BUT as much as I love amazon, DO NOT BUY them here. This price is horrbly inflated for no apparent reason. Seriously Retail from nintendo's official site online store they are 3.29 per pack!

2.0 out of 5 stars Interesting addition to the game, but what's with the price?, August 11, 2003
This review is from: Animal Crossing, Series 3 (Video Game)
As of this writing (08/11/2003) the price of these cards on Amazon.com is almost double that in walk-in software stores and big-name superstores. That having been said, the packs are already too expensive in those locations.

The cards are a convenient way to scan in an item or two (or write a letter to your in-game "Friends" in exchange for a gift in the mail. Some rare, some VERY VERY common. Some of the cards also contain special patterns (for clothes and umbrellas) or town-tunes to replace the tune on the board outside the post office. They are fun to use, and a good way to get some "free" items in game, but for the most part they are not necessary.

One neat thing these cards add is the occasional GameBoy Advance-only mini-game. Tug-o-war, Fortune telling... Some of them offer some hidden codes to mail to the animals.

All in all these are merely a novelty. If they added something to the game that youo could not otherwise get, then they might be worth the hefty price tag. Do yourself a favor and either borrow some from a friend. Only buy these if you are really interested in starting a new card collection.

I would have given these 3 stars for their novelty, but the price here is attrocious.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money, April 6, 2004
This review is from: Animal Crossing, Series 3 (Video Game)
I had all of these cards, series 1+2. I scanned them all in, and I found it ruined my game. Items that would have had to work hard for, were automatically put in the game all by scanning a card. Some of the cards just put boring everyday objects into the game. You can go onto Ebay and get a bunch of the cards for maybe 10.00. The price is worth it on here, only if you're a collector.

But in my humble opinion, these cards made Animal Crossing boring, and too easy. I haven't played it since. If you're looking for the challenge of the game, don't bother with these cards.
