Gr 7-9-Day has done a commendable job of presenting a well-balanced discussion. This edition has the same chapter headings and basically the same text as the 1994 title, but includes information about new regulations and legislation concerning product testing and recent bans on experimentation using humans and human embryos. Some of the black-and-white photographs are new to this edition and the overall reproduction has been improved. A section has been added on the use of nonhuman animal tissues and organs for transplants and the cloning of animals. Recognition of changing attitudes is reflected in the introduction of animal law into law-school curricula and research efforts of some universities seeking alternatives to animal experimentation. Extensive footnotes and a newly added list of Internet sites round out this well-researched and informative presentation. Geraldine Woods's Animal Experimentation and Testing (Enslow, 1999) and David M. Haugen's Animal Experimentation (Greenhaven, 2000) are also good choices.-Cynthia M.
