Beautifully detailed images allow readers to see minute details, such as the leathery scales on a lizards face or the dirt-encrusted mouth of a sloth. Brightly colored backgrounds highlight the simple text that describes how the various animals use their eyes, ears, noses, and mouths. Dont be fooled by my toothy grin, says the alligator, which uses its tremendous jaws to hunt for a meal. Short, clever poems mark the start of each new section. I had the opportunity to meet the author when she visited our school recently. She is definitely a wealth of information. The photos in this book are a spectacular insight from her own adventures around the world. The book is appropriate for children ages 4-7 and could be a great supplement to an early-childhood classroom.
