Perfect for young animal lovers,

My toddler loves this DVD. Educational and fun, she learns about the arctic and its animals. The music between segments is upbeat and inspires dancing around the living room. How many not yet three year olds know what narwhals are and where they live? No gory moments. Just great information and very age appropriate.

Cute AND Educational,

My 5 year old twin daughters LOVE this movie! We have the VHS version, so no bonus features or anything. It is April, and they still want to watch this movie. They have learned so much about animals I had never even heard of! At their age, they are like sponges. They remember everything! It is kind of cute because "Santa" tells about the animals. The footage is incredible, and the information is just right for elementary age children (and adults!) It is only 30 mins. long, which I love.

The DVD is a must have for cheery, young animal enthusiasts. This DVD brings the best of the Arctic Kingdom right into your living room. Watch as sea otters seem to scramble along the top of water, or polar bear young slide into their igloos for safety, or experience the awe of seeing real reindeer along with their furry antlers! Not only is the DVD great, but the Bonus Features are fantastic! I should know, I designed them!! There is a "Guess Who?" game with a zoomed image of an animal, and the child must choose the correct answer from an assorted list of other animals. The "Sound off!" game allows your child to learn what noises are assosciated with each arctic animal. The "Interactive Quiz" is a narrated quiz which asks some multiple choice, but mostly True/False questions for you child to ponder and hopefully learn from. All the quizzes reinforce learning and never make a child feel bad for answering incorrectly.
This could arguably be the best children's animal DVD of all time!

Toddler thinks it's a hoot! I like that she's learning something while getting excited for xmas! It's a little silly but we are talking about toddler fun here. It was really cheap when I bought it and would again.

I bought this for my grandkids. They are 3 years old. They love animals and I was looking for one without showing the actual survival techniques.
This is great and keeps their interest.

From Global warming is harming the polar bears to turn off the water while you brush - how do we make sense of it all for our children. This is a fun festive way to provide awareness to arctic animals from the very young to the young at heart. Many children have questions and worries as to what happens to the animals in the winter weather. This will not only answer the questions in an upbeat fun way, but it will also provide more learning that they were not even aware of. There are fun festive songs to help keep interest, and the whole story is told from Santa's perspective. And at this price, how can you go wrong! The real animal footage gives us pictures we would never otherwise be able to observe. ( And no gory or graphic scenes to worry about if your child is very young.) This is a fun holiday DVD to add to your annual viewing collection.

Excellent DVD - Bonus Features a bit lacking,
This review is from: National Geographic - Animal Holiday (DVD)
This DVD is wonderful for my two young toddlers, who, whilst only 2 and 2 1/2, adore every minute of it. They especially love the sea otters :). National Geographic on the whole can be trusted to produce quality, G-rated content that is fun for the entire family. But mostly for my 2 and 2 1/2 year old children. My only complaint (thank goodness my 2 and 2 1/2 yo's haven't picked up on this yet) has to do with the Bonus Features. I'd rate most of them strong to very strong in quality, however the "Guess Who?" game left just a bit to be desired (hence 4 stars out of 5). In particular, I find myself strongly in opposition to the characterisation of the Narwhal, a beast I have admired from afar for some time (I've never encountered one in the wild, nor should I hope to! Nor should my 2 and 2 1/2 yo's!). It is a precious, medium-sized toothed whale, something which the creator of the bonus section - mind you, not the creator of the DVD itself - seems to have forgotten, and I won't stand for its comical diminishment. Nonetheless, I will continue to use this DVD for the education of my 2 and 2 1/2 year olds...I may however have to skip over the Narwhal question on the "Guess Who?" game in the special features ;). That's all.

Nephew Loves it,

I bought this last year for my then 3 year old nephew. His mom said he requested it all the time. She even brought it in for his nursery school class to watch and they loved it. She put it away after Christmas and this year he apparently asked about it again.

Beautiful footage with my "favorite holiday tunes." So, the "tunes" are familiar, but the lyrics have been rewritten about the animals. Kind of kills the "holiday sing-along" mood.
