They say revenge is a dish best served cold. Well, if that's the case, then Tashawn has frozen his enemies to death! Once again, the master of malicious murders has stomped an "Animal" sized hole in the street lit industry! Kwan delivers an epic release in his sixth "Hood Rat" novel! After giving the masses mouth watering food for thought with "Love and Gunplay", the big homie connects the dots while crafting a masterpiece! Perfectionist...K'wan is thy name!

I stayed up all night to finish this book, and it kept me gripped the whole time. K'wan is a master of keeping characters relevant and the plot and subsequent ending were brilliantly done! Fantastic and well worth the wait!

K'wan hasn't by any means failed to give his readers the roller coaster of their lifetime. If you're looking for a Cinderella, or a Romeo & Juliet story, than I suggest you don't bother with ANIMAL, because much to his namesake, is what this story delivers; an uncanny, and untamed soul that has fallen from the grace of God that has a knack for escaping the Grim Reaper, but is pitted in a everlasting war with the Devil and his acolytes.

Satan has laid the seeds in the streets, and what came to become a thorn was Tayshawn; a cold-blooded, bloodthirsty killer that knows how pick his enemies. The Clarks have been on the scene for years, having Harlem in a chokehold, with an individual that intends to loosen their grip. The young underworld king of kings, Shai Clark, is hellbent on ridding himself of the thorn that has been under his skin for quite sometime, and while he has a notorious reputation, the guns, and the muscle to war with anyone or anything who has a deathwish, the question is how will he be able to manage kill something that can't die? No--something refuses to die, and have more lives than a cat?

The Devil hands can never be too full, now can they? Back in the music industry, Big Dawg Entertainment brings in a fresh blood to the scene, Young Dance, an aspiring, youthful rapper that plans to blow up, with Don B. holding the fuse. However, old Donald will learn that being king has a price, and despite proclaiming to be the God King of Harlem, he is only still human. Old skeletons will haunt him, and will learn that wolves aren't meant--and can't be domesticated, no matter how food you put on their platter and how tight you have the collar around them.

Now, let's not forget King James. Animal isn't the only one that wants to get at the Clarks.

For those of you following the "Hood Rat" series, Eviction Notice leaves off with Gucci being shot in the club. Animal is kidnapped on the way to a maximum security prison and taken out of the country on a secret mission.

Fast forward...
Animal is still out of the country and everyone thinks he is dead. When he finds out that the love of his life has been shot, Animal is hellbent on revenge. He vows to go back to the states and make sure everyone involved will be murdered. With everyone thinking Animal is dead and gone, it gives him a huge advantage to sneak up on his prey. Unfortunately, it also opens him up to be caught by the Feds and locked up for good if he is captured.

Shai Clark is not only being hunted by Animal, but there is someone that is determined to move in on his territory and take over the streets that Shai's crew has ruled for so long. Big Dawg is still as shiesty as ever but after crossing the line too many times with folks, someone is bound to try to knock him off his square.

Animal by K'wan is the sixth book in the "Hood Rat" series. For those of you that have yet to read this series, make sure you read the books in order: Hood Rat, Still Hood, Section 8, Welfare Wifeys and Eviction Notice before reading this one. K'wan never disappoints his readers; there is always plenty of action, murder and mayhem throughout his novels. A part of me kind of wants the series to end but each book has me wanting to find out what is going to happen next. A good writer knows how to keep his/her readers engrossed and wanting more. Kwan does a great job in doing this.

I am at a loss for words, and that is rare in itself, but holy cannoli, K'wan DID THAT!!!

Animal was everything that I hoped it would be TIMES 100!!! I got absolutely no work done yesterday, and only attended meetings. While at my desk, I could not stop reading. I was hooked from the first page. I think my favorite part was the maturing of some characters but regression of others. I guess old habits die hard and some people truly cannot see beyond their "hood". K'wan tells a story like no other and there are some superb urban fiction authors out. I laughed (BBQs incident), I cried (too many scenes), and I felt the same rage that Animal did, at points in the book. Animal made emotions come to surface, that normally happen in real life as opposed to just reading a book. That is why I love the way K'wan writes. He captivates the reader and does not release them until the series, not book, is over. Kudos to K'wan!
