I've taken it apart, cleaned every nook and cranny that i can reach, to no avail.

If you don't clean it well, you will hear the motor running and chugging and trying too hard to pump.

I like this fountain for my cat because she loves to have flowing water to drink from.

I rescued this cat from the woods. Once she was cured of her UR infection, she grew to be a great cat. She does have issues though. One is that she kept moving the water dish. As if she wanted fresh moving water. I put this fountain (where she always moved the old water bowl), and she took to it, in about a day. Now she won't drink unless she has a constant stream to drink from.

This water system needs regular cleaning (just as any pet bowl), I have one cat, so I do it weekly. A scummy, yucky film builds up after 2 weeks. You will need to clean the motor softly with a brush to free the flow of water to the output. Takes five minutes to keep your pet(s) healthy.

I found mine at Marshall on close out, way cheaper. Look around, but this it is worth the asking price here.

I also like the sound of the water, soothing white noise. Not too loud, just right.

4/28/13- Still working like a charm. I have 2 cats now. I clean it every three days. Use a pipe cleaner for the hose.

My cats and dog love this. It doesn't filter the water, but it keeps it moving which is all my cats care for. I've bought 3 different water "fountains" for my feline companions and they always managed to take it apart and rip off the filter (even after using copious amounts of tape to hold it all together). They figured how to dismantle this one, but it won't spill because of the special cap and there's no filter to destroy. When I brought home my dog, she also loved it. It keeps the water fresh and bubbling. If you're looking for something that will clean the water for you, then this is not the product for you. I believe it's a bit overpriced- I bought mine in Marshalls for about $7.00.

I have been using this fountain for about a year. My cat loves it.

PROS:
* My cat loves the moving water (he used to beg for sink water constantly, so I bought this)
* It holds a fair amount of water, and doesn't require refilling daily
* Sounds like a water fountain in your home

CONS:
* I had to remove the top bubble and other plastic piece - the water container up top didn't work correctly
* You HAVE to pay attention and clean it regularly and thoroughly. My cat stopped drinking from it. I thought I was cleaning it well, regularly, but found a LOT of black grime hidden in the tube and spout piece. This can't be healthy for the kitty.
* If you don't clean it well, you will hear the motor running and chugging and trying too hard to pump.
* No filtration system

I washed all the pieces inside of my dishwasher and when I plugged it in and ran it, there was still some gunk that was spurting into the water. I think that over time, it gets dirty in places you can't clean it. My cat loves it so much, I will probably just replace it with another one.

I've had this fountain for about two months now. I've decided I really don't like it. First complaint - the pump has stopped working. After weekly cleanings as recommended in the manual, the pump just stopped working. I've taken it apart, cleaned every nook and cranny that i can reach, to no avail. So...I guess on to the other list complaints. It looks cheaply made, and frankly, it is. The water container lid is tempermental. If you dont get the lid screwed on just right, it's going to leak everywhere. The valve that lets water from the container into the bowl is also tempermental. If it doesn't sit just right, the water is going to continue draining and the bowl will overflow. The pump inlet valve sits too far to the side and as result, you have to bend the plastic tube that connects it to the fountain. Alas, this plastic tube is rather short and will slide off the pump if you happen to look at it the wrong way. I'm not a fan. I'm in need of a new and better water fountain for the cats. I fear they've been spoiled by having moving water to drink from...i can hear them scooting their water dish across the floor right now.

Purchased this fountain at Bed, Bath and Beyond for a little less.
Although it doesn't have a filter, I use 'one' of the PetMate filter squares; put it next to the pump, under the hood. Works just fine. :)
It does need cleanly about every 2 weeks as hair will collect in the corners and around the pump it's otherwise a good fountain.
*I have one kitty that will only drink from this fountain! Our other fountains aren't from Animal Planet.

This product is designed so that the plastic tube MUST be BENT to fit over the pump. As a result it dislodges after a few minutes and overflows. Also, you have to put your hands into the water to connect this tube every time you fill it, which isn't real sanitary. Poorly thought out.

I bought this water fountain for my cats to give them the best. My deciding factor was because the item was from Animal Planet, it must be good. The motor is so noisy, I have to keep it in the kitchen. My cats will not go anywhere near it, because it is so noisy and scares them. It annoys us, and it is about to go in the trash. Dissappointing purchase.

I bought this fountain about 10 months ago and I have 8 cats. I clean and refill the water about once a week when the top bubble gets empty. The thing I like about it is it doesn't have a filtration system (I know, that's what most people wouldn't like). The ones with a filter, you have to spend more money every time you clean it to replace the filter and all I really want it for is the keep the water moving. Cats like that. The tube that the water comes out of does get grime in it so I would recommend buying the kit that is for the drinkwell fountain because it comes with a very small brush that will fit inside the tube and you can easily scrub it out. If you wash it in the dishwasher, put it on the top rack because part of mine melted when I put it on the bottom (oops!). I am ordering a new one because of that mistake but it is the easiest fountain I have found, best price and you don't have to buy millions of filters all the time to replace!
