Not their best single, but still a fun one!, February 6, 2005

"Animal" is definitely not one of R.E.M.'s best choices for a single, but the version on this single blows the version on "In Time" away. It's definitely more rocking and interesting sounding than the album version.
While I generally prefer studio outtake B-Sides, it's so much nicer to get live versions of "Pretty Persuasion" and especially "Welcome to the Occupation" instead of the 1,000,000th live version of "Losing My Religion," "Man on the Moon," or "Country Feedback."
Worth checking out for any fan of R.E.M.
Don't bother with the version that has the multimedia movie
of "Losing My Religion" It's the same as on their new "Perfect Square" DVD, so get that instead.
