Animal Tracks, January 9, 2009
This review is from: Animal Tracks of Missouri and Arkansas (Animal Tracks Guides) (Paperback)
This past summer my family was lucky enough to move into our dream home which backs to woods. Our children are ages 6 & 9. They can both read and are able to look things up in this book. It is about the size of a 4" x 6" photograph so its small enough to put inside a coat pocket.
We all enjoy spending time outdoors together & when the first snow came we had a lot of fun using it to identify all the footprints we found. This book has been a good family book. It provides the names and drawings of various types of wildlife along with a brief description followed by images of their footprints. For many animals it shows pictures of the prints while walking & running too. In the back are charts with the prints compared to other prints and includes: mammals, birds, amphibians & reptiles.
Most of the critters we have on our property were found in the book for example: coyote, fox, white-tailed deer, raccoons, o'possums, squirrel, mice, voles, skunks, box turtles, ground hogs, dogs, cats, frogs, toads, snakes, rabbits, owls & other various birds (but no wild turkey listed in it). Overall very good pocket guide & if we lost it I would probably purchase another copy.
