Book Description

October 15, 2000
Since the beginning of time, man has learned many lessons to his benefit by watching the behavior of animals. They learned to take shelter in caves. They learned to tunnel into the earth for protection. They learned to hunt for food. By following animal tracks, they learned to find water. By watching animal behaviors, they learned to sense danger. They learned to sense changes in weather. They learned all things which were necessary to their survival. The teachings of the animals have not changed. Man has only lost sight of them. It is time to reconnect once again, and take heed of those lessons the animal kingdom has for us.

From the Publisher

"Animal Walk" is not the type of book you read, put down, and forget. It is a journey into greater understanding of yourself, your loved ones, and those around you. It can be used to teach your children and grandchildren another way to view the personalities and characteristics of the people they will encounter throughout their lives. Hopefully, the teachings here will build greater understanding and tolerance for all.

"Animal Walk" is a highly interactive offering. At the end of each teaching is space for you to write down your impressions, your thoughts, things you have learned, and ways you can use this knowledge to benefit your daily life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Animal Walk by Julia White, November 18, 2000

In this day of awakening Spiritual Awareness, Ms White has given us a very valuable tool to use in begining to understand our own personal development and our relationships to the Natural World around us. Her writing style is clear, easy to understand, and very easy to apply to our own daily lives. She has obviously "listened" to the message of each Animal, and taken the character of each to new levels as we apply these characteristics to our individual Paths of Learning & Growth. I have seen and read many other writings in a similar vein, but this is the most concise and well-written book I have ever read on this topic. Her depth of Understanding and insight, and her well-directed questions prompt us to examine our own growth potentials, and encourage us in our personal reflection and analysis of how the world of the Four-Leggeds can influence our lives. In "Animal Walk," Ms White gives us many clues on how to expand our own awareness, and learn from Nature to be the "Best that we can be!" This is a book that will only become more valuable with each reading and as our personal understanding of Spiritual Potential deepens. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book, priced very reasonably, to any who might be interested in the Path of Self Awareness and Spiritual Growth.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good and Fun info, July 25, 2005

I ordered "Animal Walk" with the mistaken impression that I was ordering a book. This was obviously "operator error" and I was surprised and disappointed when I recieved the disc. However, the disc was really a much better idea than receiving this in book form.

I spent a week with my grandkids exploring their "Spirit Animal" or "Animal Totem" (see Ted Andrews' book "Animal Speak"). "Animal Walk" was a very good companion to this. I printed out info on each child's Spirit Animal with the accompanying picture for them to study. I also printed the cards and we had great fun choosing he "card of the day," reading each card and laughing at how true the card was for each one of us. Also, the fact that this program was on disc made it possible to print cards for my nephew and my daughter and some to take home as well.

One of the difficulties: the cards were in semi-alphabetical order (emphasis on semi)which made it difficult to find particular animals. The biggest frustration for me - it is not possible to print just the bear or just the giraffe or any one particular animal. There are 4 animals to a page and one must print out all four. With ink so darned expensive I felt this was a big disadvantage.

The unsubstantiated content and cliched writing style was frankly quite disappointing. It's what you'd characterize as a fluffy, pseudo spiritual book, applying vaguely spiritual anecdotes where content is utterly lacking.

There are far more significant works out there, like ISBN: 0195138775 A Native American Encyclopedia of History and Culture.
