I was roped into reading this for a story time and really got on board! The story is of a train traveling down the track at night picking up animals for a concert party. The book has fun pictures and a sing-song rhythm. Kids will catch on quickly and join in for the animal sounds. Great picture book.

I purchased this book at HPB when my son was about a year old. It is hard cover and is physically one of our longer width books at 11 inches. The paper in the book is thin and glossy. It seems easy enough to tear but amazingly my son hasn't tried to rip pages in this book.The story is about animals catching a train, having a musical party, then going to sleep (I love bedtime stories where everyone goes to sleep at the end!). The animals each play a musical instrument and sing. after about 20 months my son would say "moo moo moo" with the cow and so on when the animals would sing their tune. The illustrations are colorful and a little messy (going outside the lines for example). This doesn't bother me one bit and it gives this book a special look compared to others. 5/5 rating because this book of simple illustrations and rhymes is one of my son's top picks still at two years old. Just look for it for under $10. |
