I like this as a reference book...a lot,

My recommendation is based on the information the book provides about the role animals play in different African tribes and how they are interpreted in art form, also how they are used and what powers they represent or embody. I haven't read the entire book, though I've owned it a long time. However, it's an excellent reference book, at least for me, and you probably won't be able to get this much longer at a reasonable price.
