  • SeaDent for Dogs attacks plaque-forming bacteria in multiple ways: by the systemic activities of the kelp
  • and by introduction of digestive and antibacterial enzymes that begin working against plaque immediately upon entering the mouth. Enzymes serve to break down various food particles that are trapped between the teeth and under the gum lines.

My sister's little dog is very, very old and not a good candidate for dentistry. Her teeth were horrible. I could smell them as soon as I walked into the room. Since she has been on DeaDent, she has lost weight (which was needed), her mouth does not smell, her teeth are much cleaner, she can hear better and she is brighter and more energetic. I am using this for all my my dogs. It is a terrific product.

As an update for my review above: my sister's old dog [a dog in her late teens] did not lose the serious plaque and tartar build up on her teeth with the use of this product. The enzymes did loosen some of the plaque and get rid of the terrible smell of disease and rotting teeth. Her mouth still had bad plaque from years of neglect, periodontal disease and kidney disease. I noticed the smell from her mouth was gone after about a month or so of giving the seadent in her food. I had continued to give her Seadent in her food for at least 6 months before I wrote my first review.

The enzymes were a boost to the dog's digestion and her over-all condition improved enough that I was able to get her checked for a teeth cleaning at the vets.
My younger dogs [1 puppy under a year and the rest 3 to 11 yrs. old] are all being given Seadent now. I believe it is preventing plaque and tartar build up because their teeth look good. I still love the product and encourage its use.

I purchased this product for my 2 senior aged dogs. One of them is 15 and is too old (in my opinion) to be put 'under' to have his teeth professionally cleaned. He has accumulated a lot of tarter buildup since his last dental cleaning about 1 year ago; I thought this product would help his breath and tarter (as advertised), but so far no changes. The product doesn't even seem to be helping to fight new tarter. Because both dogs are under 25 pounds, they only get a serving of SeaDent that's less than the size of a dime/per day. I assume this is because the product contains naturally occurring iodine, which I didn't read prior to purchasing. Too much iodine can cause thyroid issues---and the product's label warns the consumer about this. The product is preservative free, if that's important to you. This bottle will last us at least until next winter, but I won't purchase again after that.

My dogs use this daily as an additive for their food.
Their teeth weren't bad, but I don't see much of a difference since using the product either.

Our vet recommended it for our 15 year old dog. Sprinkle a little on the food each day. I don't know how it works, but it is working. We have a fragile old lady for a dog who has great teeth!
