1.0 out of 5 stars The whole premise of the book is 100% false
Animals DO have heart attacks. Any decent animal expert knows this. This reminds me of another quack book titled 'Sharks Don't Get Cancer' which supports the use of shark cartilage in the treatment of cancer. That book is likewise faulty because sharks do in fact get cancer, as did dinosaurs and does every other creature on this planet. Avoid both books, they are absolute...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Truth is in here., September 15, 2004
This review is from: Why Animals Don't Get Heart Attacks but People Do, Fourth Revised Edition (Paperback)
I have studied heart disease for the last 5 years after undergoing a triple by-pass operation. I am glad to say I have been convinced of Dr Raths theory for the last 4 years and have now got back to full health thanks to Vitamin C and L-Lysine.

The flavour of the month now appears to be Homocystine which when elevated is a good marker of heart disease but to try to lower homocystine and say that this is the cause of heart disease is taking a huge leap of faith.

If one was to look down from above and observe the scene of every murder for a number of days one would see a team of detectives pouring over the crime scene. To then deduce that detectives cause all murders due to their presence is taking the same leap of faith.

I have been giving talks on the use of vitamin C and L-Lysine to reverse blockages for a number of years now and have seen many people reverse the disease process by taking these relatively cheap substances.
If you have angina or blocked arteries then you must start taking vitamin C today.

This is the only book you will need to buy on heart disease.

Some warnings. Vitamins and minerals dont work overnight. If you are on any heart medication then you must continue to take it until your symptoms have receded and then ask your doctor to start reducing your medication as you return to full health. This could take from 2 months to 12 months.

Vitamin C is best taken in divided doses over the day.
The amount required is 3000 mg to 6000 mg per day of equal parts vitamin C and L-Lysine.(4000mg equalls half level teaspoon)
L-Lysine is an amino acid which is required for healthy collagen.
Collagen that lacks vitamin C becomes brittle and cracks. Our arteries are held together by collagen.

L-Lysine also plays another important roll in the repair process. It binds onto Lipo-Protein A. (Lp(a))which our liver makes as a response to cracked arteries nullifying its stickiness thus halting the build up of plaques.Lp(a)is a component of our LDL colesterol but they dont even check for it in normal collesterol checks.

To find out the best way to take vitamin C have a look at this website and do a search on it.http://doctoryourself.com.

Enjoy this book, enjoy good health.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is essential and may save your life, October 29, 2005

This review is from: Why Animals Don't Get Heart Attacks but People Do, Fourth Revised Edition (Paperback)
Animals don't get heart attacks but people do because most animals manufacture vitamin C in their bodies but humans do not have this ability; and vitamin C is ESSENTIAL for strong, healthy arteries, as well as for a healthy immune system. Virtually all animals -- except for humans and other primates (monkeys and apes) plus guinea pigs and a few fruit-eating birds and bats -- not only manufacture vitamin C every day, they manufacture a lot of it. A typical animal manufactures 20 mg or more of vitamin C PER POUND OF BODY WEIGHT every day. If your cat or dog, for example, weighs 10 lbs, he or she manufactures 200 mg or more of vitamin C daily. The official recommended daily intake of vitamin C for humans is less than 100 mg. That's only enough for a 5 lb. animal, but it's supposed to be enough for a 125 lb. woman or a 175 lb. man. It's supposed to be enough, but it isn't. Humans need as much vitamin C as animals do; we just can't manufacture our own like most animals can. A typical 125 lb. women needs at least 2,500 mg of vitamin C daily and a 175 lb. man needs at least 3,500 mg. You may think that a glass of orange juice every day meets all of your need for vitamin C but, in fact, it falls far short. Given our shortage of vitamin C, it's not surprising that humans get cardiovascular diseases -- including heart attacks -- that most animals don't. Read this book and learn how with appropriate supplementation of vitamin C and other essential nutrients you can virtually eliminate your risk of having a heart attack. This book could not only significantly improve your health but literally save your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unmasking the Truth, February 1, 2004

This review is from: Why Animals Don't Get Heart Attacks but People Do, Fourth Revised Edition (Paperback)
Dr. Rath and twice Nobel Laureate Linus Pauling have elucidated the root causes of several metabolic diseases and have enumerated the modalities by which they can be prevented and reversed. Their stalwart battle against the intransigence of the medical establishment in the UK and US is laudable. The chicanery of "Big Pharma, Inc." will not continue in perpetuity no matter how deeply and insidiously they infiltrate the medical research and education facilities because people are losing faith in their purported munificence. The public will become educated about their health through the work of Dr. Rath and others. Most of us realize that no drug designed to squelch and quell symptoms will ever address the root metabolic disturbances and deficiencies. This screed is an invaluable discertation on cardiovascular health. Ultimately, we must all take the existential approach and be responsible for our health and prosperity. We are fed up with the lies and prevarication! Dr. Rath will succeed and we all will succeed because we are frankly sick and tired of being sick.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dr. Rath is Changing the Face of Healthcare as we Know it!, December 22, 2006
This review is from: Why Animals Don't Get Heart Attacks but People Do, Fourth Revised Edition (Paperback)
I must applaud Dr. Rath as a progressive, cutting-edge health pioneer and consumer advocate! This book on heart disease is truly a gem, as far as cellular health and nutrition are concerned. This book provides powerful insight into the "real" underlying mechanisms of heart disease and how to be proactive in the prevention of this disease. Dr. Rath is a true champion of information that has taken investigative journalism to another level in order to expose the unethical and corrupt practices of many health industry giants. It is obvious throughout Dr. Rath's work, empowering the public through knowledge is his number-one priority. He has made it his mission to expose the erroneous and perpetually publicized corporate propaganda concerning health and medicine. I encourage readers to support his remarkable efforts to change the face of healthcare as we know it!

This review is from: Why Animals Don't Get Heart Attacks but People Do, Fourth Revised Edition (Paperback)
This book is a wonderful adjunct for people who have been told they have heart disease, hypertension or diabetes. It gives the reader a guidepath for strenghtening the heart and even reversing existing heart disease using well-known vitamins, minerals and supplements. Mathias Rath, M.D. believes that heart disease can be prevented and reversed by following his program developed over many years of research.

5.0 out of 5 stars An interesting read, September 19, 2010
This review is from: Why Animals Don't Get Heart Attacks but People Do, Fourth Revised Edition (Paperback)
This is a very interesting book and well worth reading if you can get your hands on a copy.

It isn't an essential vitamin C book/article like some of the big general ones, such as:

Clinical Guide to the Use of Vitamin C The Clinical Experiences of Frederick R. Klenner, M.D.
Ascorbate: The Science of Vitamin C by Dr. Hickey and Dr. Roberts
The Healing Factor: Vitamin C Against Disease by Irwin Stone
VITAMIN C, TITRATING TO BOWEL TOLERANCE, ANASCORBEMIA, AND ACUTE INDUCED SCURVY Robert F. Cathcart, III, M.D.
The Ascorbate Effect in Infectious and Autoimmune Diseases by Robert F. Cathcart, M.D.
VITAMIN C: The Real Story by Steve Hickey, PhD and Andrew Saul

But it is still a very good book with an intriguing premise.

The importance of vitamin C for M.E. patients, as well as those with other serious diseases, cannot be overstated.

Jodi Bassett, The Hummingbirds' Foundation for M.E.

This review is from: Why Animals Don't Get Heart Attacks but People Do, Fourth Revised Edition (Paperback)
This book provides useful, practical and simple information to get yourself in good health, without spending so much money in prescriptions that only benefit the big names in the pharmaceutical world. I believe every person should listen to Dr. Rath . His wise words and evidence will surely open our eyes to the fact that good "health is a right, not a priviledge".
