Do all dogs truly go to heaven? "Animals in Heaven?: Catholics Want to Know" is a spiritual guide for Catholics who wonder about the fate of their furry friends and their souls in the greater picture of the universe. With a comforting and message discussing pets and their relations to Catholicism and the spiritual motivation of pets, "Animals in Heaven?" is a must read for those who don't want to forget Fluffy in their faith.

Animals in Heaven?: Catholics Want to Know!
"Animals In Heaven? Catholics Want To Know" has been such a blessing to myself and my family. This is such an age old question and a question my Granddaughter asked me right after reading this book. Now, I was able to confidently answer her question with a resounding yes! of course animals go to heaven. Our creator loves all His creation and Animals in Heaven confirms this with biblical research and thoughtful study. How sad that many people think that their pets have no souls and just die. Now, after reading this book I have peace about this long debated biblical topic. A must have book! Excellent.

Animals in Heaven? is a book that clearly answers the question, do animals go to heaven. It is a methodical walk through biblical truths and supporting evidence that God DOES provide for all of creation and that includes our beloved pets. I particularly like the way that this book explains the difference between God's design of a human soul and how He has prepared for the existence and destiny of His other creatures. I see so clearly now the divine providence that exists for animals, though they do not have souls like humankind. This book brings clarity to a question that everybody has an opinion on, and one that deserves the truth. This is it. A really great read!

Right on the money,
This review is from: Animals in Heaven?: Catholics Want to Know! (Paperback)
As a Catholic, I found this book to be the best I have read. It certainly walks a strict Catholic line, but in doing so, it delivers a great deal of scriptural and catechism evidence to support the thrust of the book, which is the redemption of ALL creation by Christ. I especially liked the stories of the saints and the animals and the author's personal experiences, some certainly lend to the miraculous bond between human and animal. The book is powerful in message and inspirational in spirit. You get answers and not "fluff." Answers that are certain to put your mind and heart at ease about the destiny of your much loved pets. It did for me. Animals in heaven? Yes.

I don't quite understand why Pittman is so reticent to provide animals with souls. She denies them that and instead gives them euphemisms like "special good" in order to grant their everlasting life. I suppose her unyielding obedience to the Magisterium has something to do with this, and her fear of saying something "out of order" may have influenced her thoughts on the animal soul. I do believe animals go to heaven and I also believe they have souls - the Thomist position on this has only held the church back, IMO. It should take a more Franciscan approach.

Animals Have Souls, and Go To Heaven,
By
This review is from: Animals in Heaven?: Catholics Want to Know! (Paperback)
Yes animals DO have souls and yes they DO go to Heaven.
Anyone who says otherwise, is ignorant, arrogant, speciesist, not in touch with God/Jesus or Heaven, and one other thing: Wrong. When you get to Heaven and see God hugging His four legged Children with as much love, and pride as He does His two legged Children, then the ultimate truth will stare you in the face. Not only do animals go to Heaven and have souls, but they, especially pets, like cats and dogs....their souls are infinitely more in tune with Heaven than our human animal souls could ever be. Get over yourselves, folks. The root meaning of the word "Animal" is "A Soul". Whites once thought that blacks didnt have souls. They were wrong. Men once thought that women didnt have souls. They were wrong. Some humans think that their fellow animals (yes, we humans are animals too) dont have souls. They are wrong. Regardless of species, race, nationality, sex, religion, etc, we are all one. Animals, like the human animal, are living, thinking, breathing, feeling, loving, soul-filled Children of God. We are all in this together. We all get tired, we all get wet in the rain. We all experience loneliness, we all experience pain. We all thirst for water, and we all thirst for love. We are all Children of God, Who's Angels watch over us from high up above. We all breathe, we all play, we all feel. We all get hungry and we all appreciate a satisfying meal. We are all born, and we all deserve to live life. Nobody should be left behind, or be subjected to a dissecter's deadly knife. We all die, and we are all born into everlasting love and life in Heaven.... in paradise. Where, as one spiritual family, we all share love, and we all get treated nice. In Heaven, we all gather together, one species, one race, one religion, and all of us have lots of fun. In Heaven, we all realize, that we all are really ONE. We are all one. One life. One Soul. One Spiritual Family. That is a fact, with God/Jesus as my witness(es). God Bless Us, EVERY ONE.

Catholic? Maybe not.,
This review is from: Animals in Heaven?: Catholics Want to Know! (Paperback)
Little Millie, my cockatiel is sitting on my shoulder as I write this. I may get a nip or two from her as I write because I don't think she and I agree on this issue.
Susi Pittam's book shows a pleasant love for animals. One cannot question her sincerity, but one can question her arrival at the conclusion that Catholic teachings support an animal heaven. There is no convincing Biblical evidence for the inclusion of our little friends in an eternal heaven. There are no documents of the Church that support her conclusion. None. Having to deal with a lack of support from the normal channels used in Catholic Theology, she reaches into the pool of material used by all animal-rights activists--sentimentality. As a child I read that St. Francis picked earth worms off a rain-drenched path so that they would not be trod upon. Whether that is truth or myth, I do not know. Whether a pope loved cats, or a saint wrote his works with a dog on is lap is interesting at one level, but it speaks nothing to the question whether animals go to heaven. The case-file for an animal heaven is empty. I may wish Little Millie will arrive in heaven with me (which she certainly will not if she continues chewing all my iPod earphone wires), but there is no evidence that she will based on Catholic teachings. |
