About the Author

JUSTIN VALMASSOI can be found lurking in parks, feeding crows little bits of cheesy crackers. He used to do this in America, but now he lives in Scotland. Thankfully there are crows there too. In his spare spare time he captions animals for the amusement of hundreds of thousands of strangers via his inexplicably popular tumblr, Animals Talking In All Caps. (animalstalkinginallcaps.tumblr.com)

Format: Paperback
Give Justin Valmassoi credit: the title of his book, Animals Talking in All Caps, tells the reader exactly what to expect. As if that were not enough, the subtitle confirms the title and should remove any doubt from the reader's mind: (It's Just What it Sounds Like).

This is a silly book. It has silly pictures of animals, with captions (in all caps, of course) quoting the silly things that the silly author imagines the silly animals might be saying. This silly author has a silly imagination. If you, too, have a silly sense of humor, you will laugh yourself silly.

(By the way, if you think, like I did, based on the cover, that this would be a fun book to share with your young children, please don't. That is, unless you and your kids watch movies like The Hangover together. These animals swear a lot, talk about getting drunk, and some have sick, twisted minds. This book is Rated R. Not appropriate for children.)

Spend a few minutes browsing animalstalkinginallcaps.tumblr.com. If you enjoy those few minutes, you will enjoy the book. If not, well, then I don't know what to say to you.

Thanks to Edelweiss and the publisher for the complimentary electronic review copy!

This book is just what I needed to make me forget about some of the crap going on in my life right now. If you need to laugh - buy this book. If you don't find it hilarious then something is seriously wrong with you and you are beyond help.

If you enjoy the website of the same name, this book is for you. The photos and captions are hilarious, covering everything from classic pop culture references (best if you're under 40) to drinking to first world problems to making fun of hipsters. It's not a kid's book. Just brilliant amusement when you want a quick laugh or need a present for friends who are as funny and clever as they are dark and cynical. Thanks Justin!

If you're not sure if the book is for you, look up the eponymous website and click the random link a few times.

It had pages that made me laugh out loud. It had scenes that made me think: "Huh. I never thought of that."

All in all, I am happy that I bought this book.

If I were made of money, I would buy another copy, slice off the binding, and daily post a page to the company lunch room, with the names of my co-workers scribbled on the players in this book. THAT would be entertainment for a year. :-)

Well if you want to own the funniest book in the universe and give the greatest gift, order this book. I first discovered Justin on tumblr and just about laughed my ass off. His collection of animal pictures and captions will have you rolling on the floor. I use this as my coffee table book and have never had guests that pick it up be at a loss for something to say. I love this book and actually hope he does a volume 2.

I'm not sure why I thought this book would be laugh-out-loud funny, it's not. I found maybe one out of five pages amusing. Will go into my "re-gift" box.
