5.0 out of 5 stars Unique Learning AND Fun ..., January 1, 2005
By
This review is from: Animals of the World Jigsaw Book (Jigsaw Books) (Hardcover)
I bought this for my 6 yr old as a present. She LOVES it and spends considerable time doing the puzzles. The more interested she is in the puzzles, the more interested she is in learning about the animals. The book feaures 6 - 48 piece puzzles depicting animals from 6 continents. Antartica is included, but not in puzzle form. The book is colorful, and sturdy. The pieces do not fall out once assembled. The illustrations are beautiful and wonderfully life-like. I found it to also be a great activity book to travel with ... not for use in the car, but useful once you get there soft of thing. It can occupy kids for a long time. I would recommend it for ages 4-5 WITH help and ages 6-8 on thier own. It is a fun learning / doing "sort of thing".

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful pages, lots of fun!, November 27, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Animals of the World Jigsaw Book (Jigsaw Books) (Hardcover)
I bought this book of puzzles for my 5 and 3 year-olds. It is a bit above my 3 year-old, but perfect for the 5 year-old. I cannot resist helping out. The colors are beautiful, the pictures are fantastic. The six puzzles include animals from: Africa, Asia, Australia, North America, South America, and Europe. There is a key that gives the names of every animal on each page. There are also a few paragraphs about the flora and fauna of each area. This is definitely worth the money, particularly if you like animals and puzzles.

5.0 out of 5 stars great jigsaw puzzles with educational value, March 17, 2004
This review is from: Animals of the World Jigsaw Book (Jigsaw Books) (Hardcover)
I started out playing the puzzle with my daughter by showing her pieces of puzzle and location to place them, gradually she was trained to do so herself, and now she can complete the entire puzzle on her own with minimal help. On top of the educational value it's great for pattern recognition and observation at early childhood age. I wish the author has produced more puzzles of similar nature. Highly recommended for age 4 and up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Puzzle Book, January 9, 2004

This was a Christmas gift that I bought at a book fair for my grandson who is almost six. He loved this book! He spent hours putting the puzzles together and asking the names of each animal that was shown in the puzzle. The puzzle is beautifully illustrated and the animals are identified by numbers. Two other titles were listed at the end of this book, Artic and Antarctic, he has asked for both of these books for his birthday. This book is a good choice for any child in this age group.

5.0 out of 5 stars Educational and fun jigsaw book for preschoolers and up, May 6, 2009
This review is from: Animals of the World Jigsaw Book (Jigsaw Books) (Hardcover)
We love doing puzzles at home, and I've been on the look-out for suitably challenging puzzles for my 4-year-old. This is one puzzle book that we have found educational and fun to put together [even the adults in the family enjoyed it].

There are six 48-pieces jigsaws in all centering around the theme of animals of the world, i.e. Africa, Asia, Australasia, North America, South America, and Europe. In addition, the animals of Antarctica are also covered [no puzzle though]. There is a brief description of the region for each group of animals, and all the animals depicted are labeled for ease of identification.

The puzzles are beautifully illustrated in full color, and the pieces themselves are sturdy and fit well together. Highly recommended for preschoolers and up!

This puzzle book is a very fun activity for you and your child to do together. My daughter received it as a gift when she was 4. It was a little difficult for her at first, but with a little help, we put it together and had a great time. She is now 6, and still loves it. It's really great because it takes some time to figure out the puzzles. It's not too easy, but not too difficult.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun for puzzle lovers young and old to work on together, November 3, 2011
This review is from: Animals of the World Jigsaw Book (Jigsaw Books) (Hardcover)
I love this book! I have always been a puzzle lover, and I enjoy building big, challenging puzzles from time to time. My two-year-old niece also enjoys building puzzles, but of course she has to stick to much easier ones. This book, with beautiful artwork depicting the animals of a different continent on every page, is just perfect for my niece and I to work on together. The puzzles offer enough challenge and variety that I don't become bored building them (even multiple times), and they are small enough that my niece doesn't become overwhelmed. They also offer great opportunities to talk with her about places around the world and what kinds of animals live there. She loves cats, so she especially likes learning about the various wildcats that are pictured in some of the puzzles.

One note of caution: The puzzle pieces are pretty small and could be a choke hazard. Young children shouldn't play with it unsupervised. But grownups won't want to miss out on the fun, anyway!

5.0 out of 5 stars beautiful pictures, April 6, 2011
This review is from: Animals of the World Jigsaw Book (Jigsaw Books) (Hardcover)
This book is great with thick and well fitted pieces. Pictures are very beautiful. My daughter loved it so much. She played it when she was two until she lost it when we moved to a new place, that when she was three. I will have to buy this book again for her. My daughter also learned about animals from this book. Highly recommend to everyone.

It was great to find puzzle books with 48 pieces. My 4 year old is now bored with the 24 pieces, so this should keep her happy for quite some time!
