Most Helpful Customer Reviews

1 of 2 people found the following review helpful By setlib on August 4, 2011
Format: Paperback
Although the title says "Classics", and this book certainly includes entries on classic anime like Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Grave of the Fireflies, Kimba the White Lion, Sailor Moon, and The Tale of Genji, it also has many more recent titles. Titles like Samurai Champloo (2004), Naruto (2002), Fullmetal Alchemist (2004) and Chobits (2002) are also included, as well as animated films like Howl's Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, etc. Entries are about five pages long and some include black and white screenshots. Entries have basic information, summaries, and then good reviews that discuss connections, influences and content advisories. The only thing lacking is an age recommendation. Anime fans new and old would enjoy this as a reference.
