More About the Author

Katherine Applegate's many books include the Roscoe Riley Rules chapter book series, the picture book The Buffalo Storm, and the award-winning novel Home of the Brave. With her husband, Michael Grant, she wrote the hugely popular series Animorphs, which has sold more than 35 million copies worldwide.

Katherine was inspired to write The One and Only Ivan after reading about the true story of a captive gorilla known as Ivan, the Shopping Mall Gorilla. The real Ivan lived alone in a tiny cage for twenty-seven years at a shopping mall before being moved to Zoo Atlanta after a public outcry. This is the best animorph book ever!!! Its the best book because my favourite character is Rachel and my favourite animal is a cat and in the book she morphs into a cat. The book is about five teens who get thrown into this intergalactic battle between the Yeerks(bad alien slugs who slither into your head and take over your body) and the Andalites (good aliens with the power to morph into any animal they touch.) In the last book a dying Andalite gave the five kids the power to turn into any animal they touch as well. In this book Rachel thinks her best friend Melissa is a controller (a person with a yeerk in their head) She morphs Melissa's cat Fluffer McKitty(!), and sneaks into their house. One catch: Mellisa is the daughter of their vice principal who also happens to be a controller...
This was the first animorph book I read and it was a great first animorph book for me.

The Vistitor is REALLY COOL!I love the books about Rachel and Tobias!So,this is the story....

Rachel used to be best friends with Melissa Chapman,but that was before the Yeerks,before the Andalite,and before the power to morph... Now Rachel seems to notice a chage in Melissa,She's not herself.Jake and the other Animorphs think they should spy on Melissa and her father,Principal Chapman,a known Controller.They only have one problem:How can they get inside the house?Rachel soon discovers the ideal morph:Melissa's cat,Fluffer Mckitty.Well inside the house Rachel makes some surprising discoveries,like why Chapman became a Controller,and other things..........

This is a Fabulous book!!!!!If you like the animorph books you need to read this!!!!

In this second installment of the bestselling ANIMORPHS series, the five teenagers who were given the power to morph into any animal they touch continue to battle the evil Yeerks. But the invasion gets personal for Rachel when she discovers that it has emotionally hurt one of her old friends, whose parents have both become Controllers, tools of the Yeerk invasion. The series continues in the third novel, "The Encounter." Like the others in the series, "The Visitor" can be read and enjoyed without having read the previous books.
