2.0 out of 5 stars I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A LOT BETTER
I couldn't wait to get the book. Tobias is my favorite character. I LOVE Animorphs and couldn't beleive it was as bad as it was. Also for all of you who heard the rumor Tobias and Rachel Kiss, well I'd been waiting for it throughout the animorphs, and I guess I'll be waiting a lot longer :( Well I'm glad he did learn about his dad. I just want to see Ax's reaction,...

I just want to see Ax's reaction, I also wanted to see Rachel's reaction when she found out Tobias can morph his old form for book #13 but (sigh) That'll probaly never happen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Book I've Ever Read!!!, May 19, 2001
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Animorphs #23: The Pretender (Paperback)
This is the best book I've read so far. Tobias is my favorite charactor in the Animorphs series. I have the book 'Andalite Chronicles' so i knew the story before i read it! Wrong move! 'The Pretender' is funny and serious at the same time and i really enjoyed it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally!, May 8, 2000
By A Customer
When I read the caption on the book, I yelled, "Finally!Tobias finds out who his father is!" And he does! And who itis-that is a really cool secret. But Tobias is also in a big dilemma. A woman named Aria has shown up and claims to be his cousin. Should Tobias go and live with her? But then he discovers the fatal truth. Aria is really Visser 3-which would mean death if the Visser found out who Tobias really was. But why is Visser 3 pretending to be Tobias's cousin? Find the answer in this action-packed, exciting book! (Sorry if I sound like a lying magazine, but it really is all that.) K.A., if you read this, I would like to see more romance between Rachel and Tobias!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Animorph I've ever read, July 12, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Animorphs #23: The Pretender (Paperback)
I've read Animorphs 1-29, The Hork-Bajir chronicles, and Megamorphs1 and 2. This is the best one I've read. Possibly my favorite book. Being a 13 yr old bookworm, I've read a whole lot of books! The whole thing leaves you not being able to put it down, and the end is both wonderful and exiting!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of her most involving books yet!, January 8, 1999

This review is from: Animorphs #23: The Pretender (Paperback)
This was one of KA's most involving books yet! There is only one problem I see with Tobias narratives: The ANIMORPHS don't realise that he could morph human for two hours and then use the box to get his morphing powers back. That is bugging me. I like the book because Tobias discovers something vital at the end; something only those who have read The Andalite Chronicles know. However, maybe a lot of people haven't read that book, so I can't say the ending. One other thing bothers me: Marco is too sarcastic and Rachel too warrior-like to come right out and say that they like each other. I wish they would at least tell each other because its obvious from the way they tease each other but its getting annoying that they won't say it out loud.

5.0 out of 5 stars A family for Tobias?, March 22, 2002

Tobias Birthday is coming up and he's been called to an attorney's office to be read his fathers will...And a 'Long-lost' cousin supposedly just came back from Africa and she wants to adopt Tobias.Could it be true?Could Tobias really have a family? If he did,he would have to morph human, and stay that way. become a nothlit again...that would mean dropping out of the fight, No more Yeerks,Morphing,or Animorphs.....Well,he would still have Rachel, and they would BOTH be human.....But can he give up his new life as a hawk?Give up flying?Well, his Birthday is coming closer, and now Tobias is about to learn the Secrets of his past........................

I loved this book, espcially what Tobias learned about his father! When I read I just sat there and was like,Oh my Gosh!!!!!!Then I got the Andalite Cronicles and it kinda explained it.....Hmmmmmm,I wonder if Tobias will ever meet his Mother,Loren????????Anyway,This was definatly one of the best Animorph books,All the Tobias books are! They really show his feelings, and emotions, what its like to know that you will be trapped as a hawk forever, and now his feelings about Elfangor, how important he really was to him......I recomend this book,You'll probally be laughing, crying, and wondering right along with Tobias!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Truth Is FINALLY Reveled, March 17, 2000
By A Customer
So, the Bird-Boy has someone on his tail. A mysterious cousin appears on the scene. (Luv the suspence, huh?) Says she has Tobias's dad's will. Tobias finally finds out who his father really is. You do know his father is if you've read The Ivasion. If you didn't, then read the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Emotional Experience, February 19, 2000
This review is from: Animorphs #23: The Pretender (Paperback)
I am a 31 year old woman who has been reading Animorphs with my children for 2 years. This is perhaps the best one we have read! In the words of my son, "It has everything; adventure, suspense, humor, (intense) emotion and a shocking ending." We love Tobias more than ever after reading it!

After I read that book I thought more about Tobis and how it felt to be stuck in a bird morph for such along time. But in the end I loved the book.A must for animorph fans.
