More About the Author

Katherine Applegate's many books include the Roscoe Riley Rules chapter book series, the picture book The Buffalo Storm, and the award-winning novel Home of the Brave. With her husband, Michael Grant, she wrote the hugely popular series Animorphs, which has sold more than 35 million copies worldwide.

Katherine was inspired to write The One and Only Ivan after reading about the true story of a captive gorilla known as Ivan, the Shopping Mall Gorilla. The real Ivan lived alone in a tiny cage for twenty-seven years at a shopping mall before being moved to Zoo Atlanta after a public outcry. He is now a beloved celebrity at the zoo, which houses the nation's largest collection of western lowland gorillas. Ivan is well known for his paintings, which he "signs" with a thumb-print.

Katherine lives in California with her husband and two children.

The Invasion by K.A. Applegate is an excellant book. It isabout five kids, Jake, Cassie, Rachel, Tobias, and Marco, who meetaliens. It all started in an abandoned construction site. A huge UFO landed in front of them. An Andalite, Prince Alfagor, came out of the UFO. He looked half horse and half human. The Andalite gave the five kids the ability to morph into any animal. They can not stay morphed for more than two hours. If they do, they stay that way forever. They are trying to save the world from Yeerks, slug like creatures who take over your brain.

Animorphs is one of the coolest series ever. The books are written very well, with an innovative plot. A bunch of five Normal kids stumble on to the secret invasion of the Yeerks on the human race. Something new and different, gripping till the last word, it leaves you longing for more and more. Applegate's tiger, elephant, wolf, horses, ants, dolphins, cockroaches, squids and so on will get you hooked. They make a Great read...so go ahead and buy it.

This boxed set contains the first four books in K.A. Applegate's bestselling young adult science fiction series ANIMORPHS. Follow the early adventures of Jake, Rachel, Marco, Cassie, and Tobias, five kids who were given the power to morph into any animal they touch by a dying alien prince so that they might prevent his species' enemies, the Yeerks, from colonizing on Earth. 151-184 pages each. Great for reluctant readers! Each may be read independantly of the others, but reading in chronological order is reccomended. See individual product pages for a more detailed summary of each book.
